Just remembered this from the discussion, but through looking for a monitor I've been keen to find something with HDMI for use with a console. If I had to use a converter or adapter, how would the audio work, especially if I wasn't using audio based on the monitor's speakers?

You could configure audio to come from a different connection, or some monitors may have an audio-out/headphone jack that they can pipe a downmixed signal to (HDCP only allows 2-channel audio to be converted off of HDMI audio).

Any idea why the forum is scaling my avatars a bit? They are neither over the size or dimension limit.

    Thanks.

Was using motionjoy drivers for my ps3 to play ffxi. Since motionjoy is down, does anyone know of a different program/drivers that will make my ps3 controller work on my pc to play ffxi?

That was my original suggestion to the IT manager, but he insisted that a device exists that has all of the different inputs.

I'll probably just do what you said, and then just deal with him later lol. Thanks!

have never figured this out myself, even when you right click > view image, the appropriate image size is shown so it's not even scaled when uploaded, it's purely the way it's displayed for whatever reason

Downloaded HiJackThis to see what pops up. I'm not very pc techy savvy, but the numerous "missing files" bothers me. Not sure if they are bad. I use CCcleaer and have run registry cleaner twice and it's cleared. Also, I usually have 2 SVChost at 100k+. Maybe time to reformat?

Do just the adapters...... I have never seen any switches like the one he is describing.....

So if it exists, good luck to him finding it.

Getting very poor FPS in WoW currently.... and I have no idea why lol

I'm currently sitting on "good" settings, and the highest FPS i've seen is 40.

    My rig is currently:
    i5 2500k (stock speeds)
    4 gb ddr3 1333 memory
    Ati 5770

From what i've been reading, I should be able to run this game on ultra with at least 20+ FPS...... but I can't even get it to run correctly on worse settings.

Is there is a certain driver I should be using, or what? (also note, this is a fresh windows 7 install)

Still having trouble getting my make shift media room going. I'm trying to stream internet videos to the tv and surround sound receiver. I tried hooking the video up via a VGA adapter and was able to get the video (no sound from tv) and then run a hdmi cable to the surround receiver but no luck. Anyone know of a way to do it with the ports i have?

    PC ports:
    2 DVI (i have adapter for vga/dvi)
    1 HDMI

    receiver:
    1 hdmi out
    1 rgb connection
    1 component connection
    1 optical

How many HDMI inputs does your receiver have? Are the other connections listed inputs or outputs? It sort of sounds like that's not actually a receiver. Do you have the model number?
If your TV has a VGA in, it may have an analog audio in to pair with it that you could use for PC audio.

The timed lag issue is back. I'm wondering if it has to do with the power setting I created. How might that affect the game?

Reminder: Timed lag issue = FFXI "freezes" temporarily every X seconds.

Re-seated my GPU and memory.... seemed to have solved the problem.

35 FPS in stormwind, around 80 FPS in other areas on high settings.

This was happening to me a lot today as well. Friend said I should consider doing a system restore because of all of those missing files from my HiJackThis report. le sigh

A reformat typically fixes issues like this as well.

Ran combofix last night and things seem better. I have no clue how to read the log from it but I'll post it later if anyone wants. All of the "missing" files still show up on HiJackThis though. May be placebo but I didn't have any lag unlike the night before. Even browsing seemed faster. When I get home from work tonight I'll run malwarebytes in safe mode as well.

On a side note, I was running AVG as that's what I've used for years, but have removed it. I've tried avast but I didn't personally care for it because of the constant reminders and what not(could probably change a setting). I tried the free version of nod32 but ffxi became unplayable after instal. What free program should I download?
