My wife is finishing grad school soon and I wanted to do something for her as a graduation present. What I have in mind is tracking down her family, friends, professors, etc and having them give a brief "Way to go" message, then compiling them into a video. Now I know NOTHING about this kind of stuff so I guess here is what I need to know:
1) How do I record this? The last camcorder I had used tapes that looked like cassette tapes. That's how old it was. I'll probably have to borrow something and need to make sure I'm using the right thing.
2) Is there way to have people remotely record something then send it to me? Like can they film themselves on a phone or webcam and send it to me somehow?
3) How do I combine the different videos into one video?
4) Would it be possible to put it on youtube so the other people can see the final result?
If there is anything I'm leaving out please fill me in on that as well. Have about a month to put the whole thing together and want to get going since I don't know what I'm doing.
Replacing a hard drive and was wondering if I were able to image the old drive, would it carry over any errors to the new drive with the image? I have a file backup but was hoping to use an image to escape all the reinstall bullshit
So my fiance and myself have had our verizon droid(1)s for just over 2 years now and we are both up for upgrades and thinking about going to get us some new phones today/tomorrow. I have liked the droid so far but have a lot of issues with how hot it gets when talking on the phone, battery life while streaming pandora (headset @ work) and its tendency for the display to become activate while talking and randomly hanging up/muting/w/e the hell else it feels like. I was thinking the direction of the Iphone but not really sure at this point. So two questions: 1) Is the Iphone 4s worth the 100 diffrence from the 4? 2) Would you recommend a phone other than the iphone4/s? (It has to be verizion as we are both grandfathered in on the unlimited data plans and were really not wiling to lose them forever)
update:
Turns out even though the Iphone is eligible for the upgrade discount It would be 199 with a discount + a 2 year contract.... which is what a new customer will pay when signing a 2 year contract.... Meaning my upgrade is useless wow!
Well, no reply to my last post, so got a bit brave and pulled the fan from my motherboard. Found FD12010LB on the fan tag as well as it running off DC12V/0.14A power. Trying to google that showed nothing, and while I tried to oil the fan, which has helped a little, I'm still not sure what I'd need to replace it if it does decide to go. ASUS P5N-D 750I is the motherboard model, but I'm having difficulty googling something out of that, too.
If it helps, I upgraded from a Droid 1 to a Droid 3. I love it! The keyboard is the best thing ever, quite impressed by it. It's a little on the heavier side, but you're probably used to it from the Droid 1.
Down side is it doesn't have 4g, but I'm not losing sleep over it cause I don't have it available in my area, and god knows how long it'll be till I do. The 4s is nice, but I'm far more comfortable with android then I am OS.
Hope this helps!
A friend wants to get a gaming chair and is wondering what is good and not a piece of shit. Also not terribly expensive either. Anyone have any ideas?
If you can't find an exact replacement you should be able to find something close on newegg or something. You'll need to find one of the same V and same or less A. This is assuming the fan is separate from the heatsink, if they are a one piece unit you'll need to find another solution using heatsinks and fans. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...hipset-Cooling
Recently, I've been having problems with my sound lagging, skipping, and freezing. Then a few seconds later, usually having FFXI or iTunes freeze up completely with the sound still skipping. I'm running Windows 7 x64 by the way. FFXI and iTunes are the two main programs I run on this system and the only programs I've noticed this happening in. A few weeks ago everything was fine and it wasn't doing this. Sometimes a system restart helps the issue and it'll be fine for hours or days. Other times it'll only fix for a few minutes then freeze up or start skipping again. I haven't changed any system settings manually. The only thing that could have possibly changed would have been through a Windows Update. I have ran a disc check on my hard drives and they seem to come out fine. I have also checked the device manager to see if any conflicts are present and I couldn't find any. Anyone have any suggestions of what could be causing this problem?
Edit: Also I've ran a file check on POL and it's turned up nothing. I also checked on my sound drivers and they seem to be up to date. I'm starting to wonder if it could be my hard drive going bad...
Looked this up and its sexy as hell! but at 299 price tag kinda falls out of our reach just like droid razor. I'm still leaning towards the Iphone4 maybe 4s if I can condone he extra 100 bucks. She is looking at the HTC thunderbolt anyone have any experiences with it? Both the guys at verizion said they have one and love them but they will say anything to make a sale.
The fan itself is connected to a plastic clamp that then connects, I presume, to the heat sink (It's copper looking, basically a series of staggered plates pointing up). I can completely remove the fan, which is maybe a 2x2" square, but don't quote me on that. The clamp has 4 circular tabs the fan aligns with as well as 2 tabs on opposite sides to further secure. Not sure if such is standard, or if I'll be looking at needing a new heat sink, too.
Got my two u2311 today (ordered from ebay as they were fairly cheap), however the seller seemed to forgot to pack any of the leads with it so I'm left without any power leads for now.
Would it be possible to use a lead from another product (with the same connector of course), I have a PS3 power cable (5A/250~), my HP 2159m monitor that I'm replacing with these (10A/250~) and some random lead I found in my draw (3A/230~) thats probably too short anyway. The dell I have atm is using 5A/250~ so would I be able to safely use PS3/HP monitor cables until I get replacements? As far as I can tell it would be safe so long as there wasn't some sort of surge while using the 10A lead, just wanted to get another opinion.
EDIT:: Just got reply from the seller, said they missed out stating that the monitors didn't arrive with power leads and the passage was copied from a website =/
Recently built my wifes computer and just used my windows disc that I bought with mine to install. Since I used the reg key on my computer, I obviously couldn't use it on hers, but it's been about a week since I installed and she's getting updates and everything fine. Is there a cutoff point when I need to actually buy a key or will she just stop getting updates?
Somewhat related, I've been thinking of getting an SSD to boot Windows+XIV from, can I just reuse my windows key that I put on my HDD when I bought it? I assume I could since there's still only going to be one of my key registered, but I didn't know if it was a one and done type thing. Also, how would one go about uninstalling windows from their other HDD once it's on the SSD (noob question I know)?
I think there is a 30 day trial period for Windows, I'm guessing you will stop receiving updates or something after that time (not entirely sure what happens, never looked into it). Could use Win 7 Loader if you don't want to buy a copy though.
And for reinstalling you can just use the same key, so long as you don't use the key on two different machines at the same time it's ok afaik (I used my student version key for multiple reinstalls on my PC)
Best way to get rid a windows install would be to format the drive as there are some hidden folders you can't normally see from within windows, might be able to see them with a linux live-cd though. If you don't have a backup large enough I suppose you could install windows on the SSD then boot windows from it and create a partition on your HDD, move everything you want to keep to that partition and format the old partition with the windows install on it, then finally extend the new partition to take up the entire HDD again.
Just got my Sandy Bridge i5 2500K in the mail today (would be yay but DDR3 RAM is on backorder) and the stock cooler/fan looks pretty dinky to me. I'm not planning to OC, so should the stock cooler be adequate? I've got an older mid-tower case with adequate ventilation, though it's nothing special. Any thoughts?
