@ Hey/Qeo: I just realized there was a difference between OEM and Full (Only knew of Full v Upgrade until that time). I
ll probably just pick that up at the store instead.

If I wanted to run BF3 on max settings, what kind of card would I need? I assume my old processor isn't the bottleneck, but my GPU probably is.
Right now I have to settle on low, could do medium but then intensive scene would hurt my FPS.
CPU: Phenom II X4 940 - Quadcore 3GHz
GPU: RADEON HD5850
RAM: 4 GIG
HDD: WD 150GIG 7200 RPM
I'm using native res, 1920x1080
If I were having a really baffling and annoying computer problem, would I ask about it here or post a separate thread?
usually I try here and then make a thread if it doesn't get anywhere
I had originally bought a video card to play FF14 (old 1 couldn't cut it); it was a 9800GT GeForce, 1024MB, GDDR3, x16 PCI Express. That card has recently bit it so I bought a newer, cheaper card and wanted to know how much better or worse it is than this 9800GT.
New 1 is a GeForce GT 520 PCI Express 2.0, 1024MB DDR3.
Thanks.
I'd try lowering the res one step, then enjoying the game with more stable frame rate on low settings, or try your luck with medium graphic settings. I'm personally waiting to buy a vid card till the new radeons come out early Jan so I can get a better deal on the Radeon 6000 series.
Ok so my computer(A partitioned macbook pro) recently acquired a virus. The said virus, named "Win 7 Security 2012", has completely disabled my windows side of my computer. Rendering me unable to do just about anything on it. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of it? I have read about deleting Registry Keys, but I have no idea how to do that. I hate to admit it, but I am completely naive about how computers. All I know is when I try to open up the regedit, or command prompt, the virus makes me unable to open it. I have also tried backing my computer up to a recent time, but it appears that the only time, backs up to a time that is already infected. I would hate to lose all my shit over this..
Any attempted virus surgery should be done in safe mode. You should be able to open regedit from there and get rid of it. Make sure you identify the virus and google removal instructions, find all relevant files and registry keys that point to them, and nuke it. If you can't figure it out you need to backup whatever data you can in safe mode and format the drive, which is the safest thing to do anyway.
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/108...ity-2012-Virus Have you read this? The last post gives all the details you need. You can normally still make a new account while infected, at least all the PCs I've had in with it I could. Personally I only run combofix as a last resort as while it has always worked for me it sometimes does that by buggering up your install lol
Decided to finally upgrade my ram since few games are starting to use up to 4GB's.
Going from 3 mixed and matched Mushkin/Corsair sticks: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz (5-5-5-18)
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 @ 1333MHz PC3 10666 (9-9-9-24)
Will I see a huge difference from that kind of jump?
What mobo are you using? Might not be able to use ddr3 if you are using ddr2 atm.and what games are you playing that are using over 4gb because that should be fine, most games don't use over 2gb without mods
Latest Skyrim patch enables the use of 4GB's of ram.
This is my mobo: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/...n.php?S_ID=520
The ram is listed on the memory support list, so I figure it's one of the best I can go with, it has perfect ratings, awards, and I figure I can't go wrong. Do you think it will be a problem?
Either you got your ram or mobo wrong because up can't use ddr2 in a ddr3 mb, they are keyed differently and shouldn't fit. Personally I wouldn't bother upgrading from 4gb anyway unless you are crashing due to games running out of ram
Speccy has it listed as DDR2, they are mix and matched as well, some could be DDR3 lol.
Skyrim can use up to 4GB's now with the update, and we all know that other system processes use up other amounts of ram. $39.99 with no shipping or tax is no skin off my back. Besides, I heard it isn't good to mix and match ram, it's time I take that crap out.
