I was always under the impression that just by opening (viewing an email) you can be infected and that some people that are infected can infect the people on their contact list. Is this correct?

If you've ever posted your email address on the internet you're risking yourself (like I've seen people do on this forum) but mostly with spam.

I remember reading that the new set of GPUs would be coming out sometime during this year, so the prices of the current generation would drop a little. Anyone have any idea when this might occur? I'm thinking of getting a GTX550 or something over my GTS450.

I'm hosting a mysql server for a private game and the ip it binds to is localhost, how would I go about changing that ip so people could connect to it? I know I could use hamachi to simulate a local connection but I would like to see if it could be changed normally.

Assuming on windows? You should check the my.ini file and comment the bind-address or skip-networking lines, then you have to allow incoming connections on port 3306 (mysql default) in your firewall. You also need to check that the mysql user you using for connecting to the server is allowed to connect from any host (the root user is localhost only by default iirc). Finally, if the other clients aren't on your LAN, you will have to forward the port from your router (but I'd rather use hamachi for security reasons if that would be the case).

Why is the 7770 cheaper then say the 6950? I'm going to assume the 1st number has no bearing on how good the product is, and that the x770 < x950?

Not exactly, but basically.

The first number indicates generation, the second is main tiers, the third is secondary tiers, which are typically pretty similar (50,70, and 90), and the last is always 0.

Generally there isn't any huge improvements between generations, so you can expect a 6950 to be better than a 7770, but the 7770 should also be better than a 6770.

So.. I updated firefox and now I see VBulletin's Who's Online not auto refreshing anymore. Or it'll refresh for a few minutes and then not refresh again (or after a long time).

Any idea on what I can do for this?

Not really, just OC the 920 if you need more power. The 960 is pretty much just a 920 but clocked higher.

First time posting in this subforum but my laptop just decided to freak out.

I went out to a movie and left browser open/editing software running along w/ skype, came back few hours later and my computer was turned off (no sleep mode on) and when i tried to turn it back on the fan (i think) decided to be a noisy little fucker and sounded like there was a rock in there or its just grinding on something.

Opened it up, looked inside and there's nothing in the fan and it looks fine, used a can of air to clean the inside, put it back together and started it up, it keeps making a loud ass lawn-mower type noise. Grabbed what i needed off of it while i could stand the noise and turned it off, wondering if anyone has had this problem before or might know how to fix it, I'm thinking i need a new fan but hoping not..
