I built a computer for a coworker a month and a half ago or so, but he has since encountered a problem. I'm not sure exactly what he did, but for some reason the CD/DVD drive doesn't work anymore. The error I get on it is "CD/DVD Driver is corrupt or missing (code 39)". The drive in question, this one, has always been just a plug and play one with no additional drivers.
I've tried copying the windows cdrom.sys driver from one of the several other computers I've built with this same cd drive but Windows stops me from replacing the driver, and "updating" it says the driver is up to date. Any ideas?
I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled several times, always with the same error codes.
EDIT: FIXED.
Error in the registry; deleted the an entry and it remade it correctly this time.
