Gear farming is always a positive route. Temple of Crota or Explorable Old Russia - Skywatch are your best options.

If Crucible is your thing, work towards either improving your Crucible faction or get one of the other factions and start working on them. Gear up via Quartermasters if you're having crap RNG luck.

If PvE is more of your thing, random Vanguard strikes, and if applicable, Weekly Heroic/Nightfall Strikes and Vault of Glass. Gear up via Quartermasters if you're having crap RNG luck.

Try to burn through as many daily requests as possible.

Does gear like legendaries/exotics that have "increase auto rifle ammo cartridge" and "Killing with a Sniper Rifle causes the enemy's corpse to explode causing damage to surroundings" count in Crucible?

I haven't checked or tested.

On my legendary pistol, My increase to ammo capacity stays active in PvP. goes from 10 rounds in chamber to 13, and a few more bullets in storage.

So gear certainly matters in PVP. Tired of seeing flat out statements thrown out because I've seen more than both 10x: "Gear matters in PVP" and "Gear doesn't matter in PVP". I don't know if by "Gear" people are even counting weapons. Serif, who I team with for PvP, has the Exotic shotgun which is a PRIMARY weapon. He doesn't even need Special Ammo for PVP to use it.

Bottom line: A level 1 out of the box (or whatever level Crucible unlocks) is not on the same playing field as a level 20 with gear. Thus, gear matters.

Wait, the Invective counts as a primary and not special? o.O That's pretty nuts, actually.

And yeah, gear definitely matters. Maybe not so much all the stats, but the special abilities or what have you on the weapons themselves most definitely matter.

The Ice Breaker special works, but it's a pretty small range for the explosion so... not that useful? More useful thing is the regenerating ammo.

2 days 13 hours 27 min of playing time, 10 legendary engrams , and over 65+ bounties later I still don't have an exotic weapon. Plus all my legendaries but 1 I've had to buy myself. My luck is terrible. -.-
