    Yeah, if it is what they're promising, it's basically an MMO without a subscription fee. Figured there'd be DLC.

    Just another way to get players paying $90-$150 for a game instead of just $60.

    It's shameful that a company attempts to extend the life of their game. Don't developers understand that a game's life cycle is only meant to last a month now before gamers move onto the next big thing?

    Here are some panoramic shots released last week that show new areas;

    Spoiler: show

    Also, Destiny has been rated "T" for;

    Content Descriptors: Animated Blood, Violence

    Rating Summary: This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a warrior tasked with defending a city from hostile alien forces. Players explore ruins across the solar system, acquire various relics, and battle insect- and robot-like aliens. Characters use pistols, shotguns, rocket launchers, and special powers (e.g., telekinesis, blasts of energy) to kill enemies. Enemies can also be dispatched up close via hand-to-hand combat and knife stabs. Combat is highlighted by cries of pain and realistic gunfire. Some aliens emit splashes of white or black liquid when shot.

    Does anyone know if the old pre-order, get beta key, then cancel works for this?

    I plan on getting the PS4 version (and a PS4) when it comes out... but I'd like to try the PS3 beta for a lil bit if possible.

    When I pre ordered through amazon I got my code within 24 hours... I don't see why you couldnt, but I could also see amazon putting you on some list if you do it too often.

    There's a difference between preordering that content and buying that content after being satisfied with the initial product.

    Not being forced to buy into preorder culture doesn't immunize it from criticism.

    I'm just saying it's a common practice and there's no point getting your knickers in a twist over it? 'preorder culture' isn't even a thing, it's literally how gaming has worked for over a decade, always pushing you to buy things before you try them, boo fucking hoo. If you buy something shitty without trying it/informing yourself the one at fault is you for being too lazy to make an informed purchase. Throw hissyfits over dlc that's actually harmful like pay to win or stuff like in dungeon keeper, and shit like that, don't spew sand out of your vagina because a game has the nerve to offer DLC in advance at a discount.

    *$20 each & $35, with the pass, for both. While I agree that is overpriced, I'm going to wait and see what else the content has to offer besides a new map/mission. Also, the eventual PC release will probably include all of it anyways.

    anyways I'm not gonna edit out my minirant or anything, I'm just frustrated with the amount of negativity that seems to follow every fucking game related thing ever, and I wish people would choose their battles and get back to having fun because the constant bitching doesn't seem to accomplish anything other than making talking about something I enjoy a real pain in the ass, there's enough stupid bullshit and negativity in life as it is, so it really sucks that something that used to be really fun and enjoyable is now just adding more annoyance. maybe I'm just getting old.

    Oh I thought Qal's original post came from the psblog, not gematsu. My bad.

    Here's where preorders get exposed as anti-consumer:

    As an added bonus for PlayStation platforms, the Destiny Expansion pass will also include additional exclusive content for Expansion I and II that will remain exclusive until at least Fall of 2015.
    There's two things to dissect here. The 'exclusive content' is wrapped up for an entire year. This is Microsoft's DLC exclusivity game from last gen turned on its head and dialed to eleven. This content is either substantial gameplay content or dumb cosmetic tchotchkes. On one end of the spectrum they've really screwed over Bone owners. On the other, they've tricked PS4 owners into a false sense of superiority for these exclusives. There's the very high likelihood that these expansion packs will contain the exclusive content without the preorder, so if you wait you lose nothing. But they want your money now, and are being incredibly vague about what your additional $30 are going to whilst preying on console warrior 'have vs have not' perceptions. I dunno, I just like collecting data points on this type of behavior by AAA developers because observing industry trends is interesting to me, I'm trying to cut back on judging people who preorder at these thresholds otherwise.

    yeah moneyhatting is pretty stupid, but I can't really complain since I enjoyed it plenty as a primarily 360 player last gen
