^Watching that makes me want to play this game so bad but also frustrates the hell out of me. I don't think a day doesn't go by when I seriously contemplate buying a console for this. I'd go with PS4 but my good buddy bought a Xbox1 and is getting it on that. Arg. I think I will just wait this out until 2015 and see if PC rumors prove true or not. Perhaps we'll see a permanent price drop in consoles this Christmas and might help persuade me more if no PC release.

Not official, and from unnamed sources, but some info on DLC and cross-platform-ness:
With a little digging, I was able to get some clearer answers on these questions. I’ve been told by multiple PlayStation reps that during a closed doors meeting about Destiny, it was revealed that, although DLC and the like will officially not be cross-platform, this would not apply to items and equipment, which will travel between systems with you. All equipable items, such as the exclusive pre-order Sparrow from Gamestop, or things that affect your character, such as ranking with the Vanguard Armory, will all transfer with your Guardian. The only things that won’t be accessible on both systems will be the new areas and story content unlocked by the DLC. It is unknown, though, how DLC missions in-progress or unredeemed DLC mission rewards are handled in these scenarios.

    Edit:
Also, time to say goodbye forever..
Very soon, the Destiny Companion will be wiped clean of all evidence of Beta Guardians. Grab your last screenshot!

    New Eurogamer interview:
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...-and-game-size

Lots of things, but in regards to the raid size (bold added for importance):
Some people are concerned they won't have enough friends to do a raid, and therefore miss out on the content.

Jonty Barnes: We're going to see people self-organise. We're seeing people in the Tower already gathering saying, who's going to commit for a raid?

It is about that commitment part. If you just casually matchmake... you can see people jump out of competitive multiplayer games in matchmaking. In Strikes you can continue with two if somebody jumps out. You can still have that experience and not feel robbed. A raid requires six. If you've got five players in the raid, you're not going to win. You're not going to get through. I can tell you now, it's really tough, and it's intentionally meant to be that way. We've all got roles to play. So it requires a commitment of six people. That was very intentional.

It's about the group dynamic. It's not just about a casual dynamic. It's about an understanding of people committed to playing the roles in raids. And preparing. With raids, you don't just jump into them. You've got to prepare before you go in, and decide, what are you doing? What am I doing? Let's all talk about it in orbit. Okay, what role are you going to play? Well, I'm an x Titan, whatever type of Titan I am, and I'm going to be defensive and hold positions. And, have you played this before? Yeah, I found success when I did it this way.

We don't explain what to do. You've got to work it out. It's very unlike any other activity we've ever done before. It's exciting. People will play it more and get more organised about it. We've seen that in other games where people have created sites of raid finders for MMOs. We may see that.
    And regarding the beta progression:
Did you speed progression up for the beta?

Jonty Barnes: There was access to certain objects you got earlier than you would have done, because we wanted to give you exposure to them in the Iron Banner. But things have changed. That's one of the reasons for wipes. There were certain things you shouldn't be getting so early. It's a different world at launch, but not entirely unfamiliar.

    Thanks for your time.

What are your thoughts on specials, mobility, and the fabulousness of capes, and what control scheme do you use?

Please, can you elaborate on why control scheme matters? I only played the alpha briefly, so I don't even really remember what the classes are...thanks!

    Spoiler: show

Just gonna focus on the two relevant schemes (I've actually heard some people liked puppeteer, but I didn't use that one at all, so I can't comment on it).

It's pretty much due to (bumper) jumper. Playing on default, your jump is mapped to x, so you have to take your thumb off the right stick to jump (and double jump). This means you can't aim while in the air. With Warlocks and Titans, you can't shoot while using their movement abilities anyway, so it's not that big a loss. But with Hunter, it's such a quicker jump and can be better tuned that it's a hindrance to not have access to the right stick. Honestly, I'd almost go so far as to say to truly take advantage of Hunter's jump abilities, you need to play on jumper.

The problem with every class playing on bumper jumper is that x is now your special. With hunter, you pop golden gun and it's another weapon. With Warlock (and to a lesser extent Titan), it's important to be able to aim your special and playing on jumper is going to impact your ability to aim. How much of an impact would be debatable, but it's something to consider. I'd say it's less important because those two classes don't have the same benefits to jump.

The other changes with jumper, highlight player is now R1+L1 (what's super for default), grenades are now R1 (not a problem -- used to be melee), and clicking in the right stick is melee (previously was highlight player). The biggest one to get used to is melee, but it doesn't take long and it's not a major inconvenience.

Caveat to all this is that it is based on playing the most as Hunter, so my impressions regarding Warlock and Titan might be wrong and jumper is the best for all 3. Also, I don't know how Blade Dancer will work, but presumably the blade will be tied to one of the triggers, so this should all apply.

So, tl;dr version: if your controls are default, play warlock or titan; if your controls are jumper, play hunter; if you want to play hunter, change to jumper.

Never thought of this, aside a video or two mentioning jumper setup. I never took it seriously.
    I will for sure now.

Random Question for those keeping up with this: I've heard that the Xbox1 version is said to ship at 1080p. Is this still on track/true?

PS4 inferior controller. iirc all nextgen will launch at 1080 where as lastgen will be 720

Titan at launch, looks like it will be the superior race for iron banner style matches where your stats come into play, especially if you run defender sub with constant shields.

I do agree that Titan will be superior for Iron Banner, but we have yet to see how much higher Titan's defense will be than the other classes. Anyone who spent the most time leveling Titan mind checking what your defense ended up being on Bungie.net (does the app give you numbers?) (assuming you had at least 3/4 uncommons)? My Hunter had 160, all four slots were uncommon.

Also, Defender loses the offensive special that so many Titans relied on. That said, Disintegrate sounds amazing. Not knife-to-the-face amazing, but still impressive.

And just realized Blade Dancer doesn't have knife-to-the-face.... sadpanda..
