Btw if anyone is trying to do public events, if you hang out at the event area in the tower (up by the Vanguards) you can overhear NPCs telling you where one is about to start.

Jesus, props to anyone who can PvP with a not Auto Rifle, just tried a round with a scout and I feel like I'm at such a crippling disadvantage

Yeah, I think you just turn in a lot of bounties and he'll eventually give it to you. I think, based on how it popped up, it's probably based on some criteria (like complete X bounties to receive it).

Looks like mine's for a machine gun (kinda disappointed, but still gonna complete it).

Also just got the PS exclusive hunter helmet, which looks better than I thought (with shaders), but has terrible stats.

Edit: Needed to go talk to Xur, so maybe you can only get them on weekends too.

I was a little bummed about getting my first legendary as a Machine Gun, but that thing can MELT. A Flashbang to stun and I can stop a colossus before the stun wears off.

Now obviously, for PvP it's booty by not being a rocket launcher, but still good.

How exactly does leveling up your subclass work? I will be maxing out Striker soon and would like to be able to efficiently level Defender.

Edit for clarification: do you just need to kill mobs or do you need to complete story/strike/missions?

Anything that grants EXP. Bounties are the best for it.

Strike rewards are highly flawed and it's one of the biggest issues right now. The chest run I linked earlier is substantially better for gearing up than strikes (at least up to LV 22) and you get marks at roughly the same rate via spinmetal turn-ins. I got a legendary chest engram from my "special" chest; I have never seen a legendary engram in any other activity.

I'm getting a real FFXI Relic weapons vibe from this thing. Weapon seems like it can talk, lots of tasks to run around to complete.. Luckily it doesn't take years to complete them.

This sounds intense, but it actually had solid rewards. High chance of leg, with ~8 strange coins if you don't get one. Have to have several different elemental weapons to progress apparently.
