Man, I'm completely mindfucked by the GOP. They want to reduce spending, which I'm all for, but they seem to want to take it out of places where it effects very little on the grander scale of things. It's like me wanting to cut back on calorie consumption and then taking a tomato out of this greasy cheeseburger: "Gotta look out for my weight".

We can afford to give people making over 1mil/yr - $103,000 but a teacher or public servant's (making 50k/yr - thats generous) union rights... SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

I wish I could say that this was just a Wisconsin thing, but it's not. The key to destroying something is to kill it where it started first and go from there.

Politicians increase union wages, union leaders support politicians and union workers cut a nice yearly contribution for their 'union dues'.

The concept that 'private-sector unions' even compare to 'public sector unions' in functionality is laughable and you are all idiots for believing this shit.

Keeping taxes down and schools and public services up isn't an interest that politicians have - in order to get re-elected?

only thing to lol about is the ignorance on the subject. The video's title for example, 'american workers vs multi billionaires'

Walker gives tax cuts to multi-national corporations like McDonalds and Walmart, erasing the state's budget surplus and creating a 157M deficit, and then tries to balance the budget on the backs of middle-class state employees.

How is that not "american workers vs. multi billionaires"?

I'm laughing at the fact you continue to assume this is only about public sector unions.

Also, don't hate on the video. It's actually pretty catchy and the stuff in it isn't exactly exaggerated.

public labor unions are a great source of funding, and the guys you see picketing for this guys or another's relection are also mostly drawn from that pool. It's one of the greatest 'scratch my back, i'll scratch yours' back-room dealing in American politics. Just think about it for a second, your a politician, you need funding, you need 'grass-roots support', and the labor union needs another benefit boost. Its not a question of whether it's happening, but that this has been happening for too long, and has become unsustainable.

is this like the california public unions that are having their pay/jobs/benefits raped in the ass constantly right now while big corporations continue to get tax cuts, or is that different?

How was it unsustainable in Wisconsin again?

WE HAD A FUCKING BUDGET SURPLUS GOING INTO THIS YEAR BEFORE THE GOVERNOR PISSED IT AWAY ON BIG BUSINESS TAX BREAKS.

Hell, last term with a Democratic governor, the unions agreed to compensation cuts to deal with budget tightening from the recession.

well, let me tell you how it all works
unions in general have a huge bias in donations for democratic candidates. Businesses tend to lean towards republicans but only in a small margin. This dude's campaign fund most likely came from big business, and uncharacteristically (established businesses favor strict taxes as it cuts down competition) ask for lower taxes, thats an assumption btw, he could have just as likely decided that 'oh shit, businesses are red lining they need help' all on his own.

also, last year, wincosin had the 11th worst business tax rate in america. fyi

Cool, I was wondering why it was such a great state with great public services and good jobs and relatively low unemployment considering the recession.
