protip: it's a good thing when you aren't able to see a link between donors and policy. Current rep governor gets big donations and follows it up with devastating tax cuts at the middle class' expense. You combat this with democrats also getting contributions? That makes 0 sense and this is all a real aside from your original argument. Also, you seem to want to verify your own beliefs in what you are looking at, instead of looking at data objectionably. I think archi was being flippant with what he was saying.

demo, this is crucial to understand. Businesses dont stick around if they can move two states down and pay less taxes. and middle class pay for teacher salaries too, and its pretty high salary considering the state of public education in that state.

scroll down to number 36 on the opensecrets link, AFL-CIO runs the unions in that state.

also, assumptions, I know the subject and the links are for your benefit, since some of you still consider I can be wrong. I know, laughable.

    From your own fucking link:
Nationwide, only 30 percent of public school eighth graders earned a rating of “proficient” or better in reading, and the average reading score on the NAEP test was 262 out of 500....

32 percent of Wisconsin public-school eighth graders earned a “proficient” rating while another 2 percent earned an “advanced” rating...Wisconsin public school eighth graders scored an average of 266 out of 500 on the NAEP
So being above the national average in both places is a measure that they have bad public schools?

How is this consistent at all? Read your own damn links.

How does their compensation really even matter? They had a budget surplus, the state isn't broke because of public employee compensation. Comparing the amount that employees "contribute" to their pensions or health care is meaningless - it's just a way to divvy up total compensation - if you pay them 60k and force them to contribute 5k a year to their pension, or pay them 55k and force them to pay nothing to their pension - it's the same figure.

Looking at two figures like that and drawing your conclusions exclusively from there is faulty. You know this. How did demographics change over that time period? How many more special-needs students were there as a percentage of the student population?

And again, the state had a surplus, the "budget crisis" is manufactured by the Governor. Stop pretending like that's not the case.

Here, I'll let Fox News do it for me:

Juan Williams is their token black guy. Not to mentioned he got axed from NPR. He's got one hell of a job security package.

EDIT: Also, Shep is relatively reasonable, but more often than naught he's the one dragged out when Fox News doesn't want to look like they're going off the deep end.

ok so let me recap; like the black guy in that video said, the public sector union is primarily a budget for reelection machine unlike the much needed private sector unions (which are almost non-existent). This was my original point.

You seem to want to argue something else (that public unions are bad), while everyone else is focusing on the salient point (that the reason for messing with the public unions is bad).
