The bus drivers' contact, which calls for pay up to $26.02 an hour,

shit that guy must've worked a fucking ton of OT - that's 117 work-hours a week, so like um...40 RT, 20 (30) time and a half, and 23.5 (47) double time per week, 83.5 hours a week actually worked assuming he's making the the most you can make an hour.

tl;dr they should hire more bus drivers instead of letting people work that much OT - looks like they figured that out after a while:

No, I don't think so. The hiring freeze was just because of budget crunch (by the very progressive Madison mayor) - he started hiring again when he figured out that additional OT is more expensive than new workers.

This is not a factual statement. They don't represent millions of workers, they represent public union workers, which do not number in millions in Wisconsin. How many of them are democrats? I bet you nearly half of those workers are registered republicans, where is their representation? They pay union dues just like everyone else.

2 things to this:

First off, it's hilarious. I live in Kansas, where almost 15% of our workers are union-- and it's much higher in Wichita due to the aircraft industry centralization here.

The vast majority of them are republicans, mostly pretty far right.


Then the point that actually matters:

Their representation is in the support for democrats. See, a union's political motives are to protect/empower said union. All those republicans expecting their union to help protect them politically... would be fucked if their support actually went to republicans.
