My dad was a HS math teacher in Madison for 30 years, no master's. My good friend's wife is a 2nd grade teacher in her 3rd year in Madison - no masters. I would guess that less than 20% of "normal" (not special-ed) teachers in Wisconsin have a master's degree.

Yeah but on average, what's considered the mean amount of training for each country? It could be different for each state, but overall the U.S. might have a much higher average amount of training than a lot of other countries. I'm not saying I'm right, but it's definitely something to look into before everyone goes "holy crap the teachers in the United States don't get paid that much compared to other countries."

Umm, yeah, I don't think there's that many kids in the average Korean classroom... my kids go to a public school here in Korea and there's maybe 20 kids per class. Teachers here get paid a LOT of money, and they can make even more money if they work at the after school "cram schools" where almost all kids go for extra studying. Hell, as a native english speaker, even without a college degree, I can easily make more money than a full-time teacher in the US right now... Just need to get all the paperwork done so that I can legally work here >.> I've been offered many times already "off the books" teaching gigs for decent $$, but declined them so far until my kids were older.

US private school. OK, that is not nonsectarian. Now let's also look at more factors. As far as private schools go, the large majority of students in private school are actually in a religious type school. This is because they are the cheapest in that regard and America is still too religious. So to further your focus, you did not mean US private schools, you meant US nonsectarian private schools, which mostly only the wealthy can afford.
