Seriously - i don't fault rich or realistically-will-be-high-income-soon people for being Republican party-line-toers.
It's all the not-rich that make me go

It's because the not so rich have delusions of grandeurr. They honestly think that if Republicans have their way 100% of the time they will magically get rich. Trickle Down Economics brah.
It's not that they think they will magically get rich. It's that they think that if you work hard, you will get rich someday. They think republicans promote fairness, so that working hard will provide you with your well earned benefits.
Consequently, from this way of thinking: those who are rich are rich because they worked hard. Those who are poor are poor because they were lazy. Hand outs promote laziness. Adversity is a promoter of strong individuals, and when overcome, it produces powerful and rich individuals. Conservatives believe in making things difficult enough so that only the best succeed.
But if that's actually their philosophical goal, it'd unclear why they aren't advocating severe inheritance taxes.
not-rich Republicans are like those idiots in Amway making -$800/month yet defending it tooth and nail because they think that someday, if they work really really hard, they're gonna be like those people at the top of the pyramid showing off their houses and cars in the recruitment videos
Wait so you're saying if I work really really hard but don't make it to the apex of rich-hood it just means I didn't work hard enough? It all makes sense now! Those guys in the boardrooms and the ones who inherited millions must be working their asses off compared to my family who slave 55-65hrs a week in leather mills and barely scrape enough to pay the bills.
I'm sure they got there all by themselves though which they like to mention and never had a helping hand from anyone at all during their climb up. It's all on them.
Because that's just apart of the shell game being run on the populace who believe they can simply work hard and become successful wholly ignorant of the realities of the forces beyond their control. Inheritance taxes? Many wealthy people want to keep their money free from the pesky government and the populace who aspire to be wealthy fall in and arrive at "hey, id wanna keep my money too!" right before that thought bubble bursts and that burger with fries needs delivering to table #4.
Hey, we can all dream can't we?
I also believe it's worth mentioning that much of the conservative points are easily digested and ignore much of the complexities that often hamstring the left. While Democrats run on lofty goals with complex solutions like the environment, economic fairness or civil rights the conservative alternative is simply to maintain the status quo, bible beat or feed into the nostalgia of days long past and that plays into most Americans desire to ignore the larger problems because they're difficult or best kept out of mind because uncertainty can be frightening. Most Americans can throw up rage about environmental laws or how outraged they are about more taxes on the wealthy but if you sit them down and ask for their input to solve the problems your answer will be a resounding silence, a mashup of soundbytes or healthy doses religion.
This isn't to say that the left doesn't have the very same uninformed individuals but the left at the very least recognizes a problem many Republicans are willfully ignorant of, refuse to see or simply have dismissed through healthy doses of indoctrination.
I think this is what irks me about a lot of politicians too. I consider myself religious, but I consider it to not be a factor in politics and shouldn't be used in every damn situation ever as a "get out of jail free" card. So many people argue things, and when you try to get an explanation just go "BECAUSE BIBLE". Yeah that's fine and dandy..but what does it actually say in context and not out of context to support your view points?
I hate seeing religious types trying to force feed their religion down people's throats because they think it's the cure for all that ails the world. Yet these same people will sit around and bitch about ANOTHER RELIGIOUS GROUP doing the same thing.
Disclaimer: Don't want to turn this into a religious debate. Just wanted to get my 2 cents out there on that.
