I think i'm encountering this now.

Its keeps giving me a message ive never seen, its "The Square Enix ID, Password, or One Time Password is incorrect" I got this when i logged on and was @ the View Character screen and it booted me to the "<play>" Screen, and told me the same thing, but i remained logged in @ the Play screen. I tried to log back on to play and it told me the same Error.

The /servmes when you log onto FFXI says that FFXI will be going down at the same time.

My PS2 had this too, fully rebooting the machine seemed to fix the problem, for now at least.

By the way, for people who share accounts/mules, be weary of the new 'feature' they are implementing:

Customers with accounts for FINAL FANTASY XIV and FINAL FANTASY XI linked to the same Square Enix account will have access to both games restricted and receive a “Unauthorized connection to server detected” message when trying to access PlayOnline in the event that their FINAL FANTASY XIV login is restricted. Square Enix accounts that use security tokens, however, will never have their logins restricted.

Probably will work like most restrictions like this, by IP address. (stupid)

This won't only affect FFXI users. And yes, it is fucking retarded.

Unless you're referring to Verified by Visa, in which case I think the reason it's not on 14 is because 14 handles billing through third party companies, not SE directly.
