My girlfriend use to work for WaMu and eventually Chase and she would always boast and brag about the perks of WaMu accounts. Anyways, she said when Chase purchased WaMu, all the old WaMu accounts would get "grandfathered" and Chase would honor them for two years. Those two years are up towards the end of this year and she has already begun receiving letters of the new policies her account will be subject to once the "grandfather" period expires.

The court probably told Wells Fargo to pay him $1,173 and deal with his problem (not pay him $1,173 instead of dealing with his problem). They only sent him the $1,173, but apparently did not take care of the other half of the judgment.

It's a major commercial bank, so it does a bit of everything.

I was with WaMu back in the day. I think I opened the account back in 1999 or 2000. It's true what Valisk says. Chase took over, everything was peachy. No bullshit fees, etc etc I then got a letter late Nov early Dec. last year. Chase stated they were gonna end the free checking and in Feb. Chase was going to charge 10$ monthly fee I think it if you did not have at least 1 direct deposit of 500$ minimum a month or keep a balance of 1000$ in your account.

I don't remember exact details but I do remember grinning on the inside when I closed the account in Jan. Bank manager kept me there for 45 mins trying to convince me to stay. I switch to my local credit union. Small time bank but they don't fuck over their members with fees and shit like big banks do.
