Very slow Hyan. You need to refresh faster.

    -Quests
    -Larger mobs
    -Synthesis interface tweaks
    -Wear adjustments

Too little imo. It's just 1.16 this time, wonder what that means for the future. I mean if this is 2 weeks worth of shit, okay, but if we're getting another "1.15b" in mid-March and gotta wait a month for the next substantial patch, they gotta pick up the pace.

Although I guess a lot of that stuff in the list takes a long time to prepare from scratch, and they'll be implemented roughly at the same time (in April? May?) so these seem like filler at this point.

I think that highly depends on what kind of quests are we getting, and how many they implement in this patch.

Personally I would rather see them work on content we can do on daily/weekly basis rather than -probably- this once a lifetime gig...

Well they are trying to figure out the whole battle system nao? I don't give a shit if they don't talk to us for another 2 months, as long as they just figure out the Battle-System and make it right.

Definitely, Yoshida kinda made it seem like not much is coming for now though. So my expectations aren't high. Most interesting to see is what's the difference between "Quests revolving around the danger facing Eorzea" and "Storylines and world quests". Cutscenes/no cutscenes?

Also class quests and main scenario fit.. where exactly? These aren't probably a part of those. Maybe. I guess this can be somewhat interesting.

I'm also pleased to see larger squirrels. Always felt like something was off about some of the mob's sizes. Shouldn't be smaller than XI's hare imo.

Well, the first one does sound a bit "Cataclysm-like", it could be just a couple of quests to prologue for the first expansion, which is unlikely/far fetched...

My money's on some sort of an "event" coming in the next few months.

Maybe the new team will change how I feel, but I have no excitement for any kind of quest/cutscene content after doing more of our current class quests/storyline quests.

Except for the starting storyline quests (up to rank 15) and a couple others later on, the cutscenes/quests I've experienced in this game have been below original-FFXI quality, especially the class quests. Most of them seriously come off as extremely rushed, unfinished, simply weird, or any combination of the 3. If anyone needs examples, I'll give some.

I guess this is not surprising considering how the rest of the game is.

Yoshi, how about some G O D D A M N chocobos? Six months, still no chocobos. I'm also getting a feeling that there will be like, five quests added...

I'm imagining Yoshida locking a few writers, RPers and D&D enthusiasts into a room with a mountainous pile of energy bars and canned coffee. 50 quests by the update deadline. Final Destination.

I wonder if they allowed Yoshida to hire additional staff to help get these things done faster, or if he's simply working them all massive overtime? Considering that FFXIV allegedly has been in development for five years and the 'finished' product is ...the thing we got, compared with how many things Yoshida's team is pumping out in such small time brackets.....What the hell were they doing those five years?

Too many variables to draw any conclusions about the development time. He has around 120 people working full-time on this at the moment. Which are divided into million teams working on million things at once.

I guess for any single larger feature, it'll take 3 months at most to implement at this stage. Less if more people were working on it obviously, which is a luxury they can't afford.

Well, we voted for these quests to be the #1 priority and the man seems to deliver on that note. I wouldn't say this is what the game needs right now content wise, but enough people think it is.

This stuff looks good. Improvements to the synth interface is def a standout for me since I love crafting.

I´m totaly agree with that ! Atm I hardly find the motivation to log in because I see no sence of playing. There is no content to do that would motivate there is not omfgwtf gear to work for it, just dissapointing. And that I can summon my retainer even when he is out won´t change that -.-;; imo that are things that can wait ...

He's probably overworking all of the staff. I highly doubt they would bring on too many more people that weren't involved with the original "finished" product. You have to remember that SE is a corporation, more than a company. It's more economical for them to pay overtime for their current staff, than hire on new employees.

    As for the update:

    1. Storyline/World quests? I think I remember seeing in the .DAT that storyline for Rank 52 and 54. Possible Rank increase? I doubt it, but maybe. Also, class quests would probably be Rank 40, 50, and 56.

    2. Quest NPC locations? Are they talking about current quest givers, or ones that are going to be added? Remains to be seen.

    3. Journal improvements: pretty useless.

    4. Rank/Level graphic changes? Is this supposed to make me feel more accomplished on obtaining a rank when there is no content?

    5. Camera improvements are nice.

    6. I thought they fixed the targeting system?

    7. Item degradation. A definite need.

    8. Synthesis interface... Hmmm, maybe.

    9. Summon a bazaaring retainer. Still waiting on that AH.

    10. Enemy size? Is this really a pressing issue?

    11. Auto-MP regeneration? What about Siphon MP II, Exaltation, Tranquility, Stygian Spikes? Are magic classes about to be on the road to easy mode?

I'm pretty sure there's a lot of information they're leaving out (at least I'm hoping so). I'm not exactly sure whether I prefer the small, semi-recent updates... or, if I'd prefer a large once ever 2-3 months. I can see why they are releasing information/updates semi-frequently, though. I have noticed that in-game population has reduced dramatically, despite the game currently being F2P. I enjoy the game right now at a very casual pace, but there are even some annoyances I just cannot ignore.

I'm not sure exactly what they tried to do ever since they started this project, but I think they should've stuck with "Codename: Rapture" before slapping "Final Fantasy" on the game.

FFXIV must have the worst crunch any game has ever seen ever.

While i understand they're out of options and have to work like this, normally this is a terrible way to make content. If the people working on an MMO are not enjoying themselves then it comes out in the finished product.

edit: Whoops, sent that before SilverBreeze posted.

Komoto looks quite refreshed at least!

I wonder if there's any resistance in the team towards the new management. I mean their approach is quite different and could lead to some 'interesting' dev meetings.

EDIT: ...Also, the patch is cool.

The retainer notes were quite a surprise. At least I don't need to go to UD anymore to grab mats if I'm in Grid/LL
