You don't want to get stuck in a cycle of dyeing your hair. It is tedious.

I've been going grey since 24-25 and because my natural colour is almost black I'm stuck dyeing it every 6-7 weeks.

Women will like it (or guys will if you're gay). Just leave it.

I don't get why so many people think having no hair is this horrid thing. It's like "OH MY GOD HE'S GOT NO HAIR RUN AWAY!!" Well it's not really like that. Some people just think it's the worst thing ever. I had a very full head of hair going back to my very early 20's. I started noticing it when I was about 24. It only got really bad in the last two years. (I'm 29 now) It's a genetic thing. Implants, hairpieces, and all that other crap are a waste of fucking money. I embraced it and just shave my head with a razor every day. Granted not everyone has the head shape to pull it off right, but I have one of those symmetrical heads. Since doing it, I've received nothing but compliments. It just depends on the person. I'd react the same way to grey hair.

Basically OP what I'm trying to say is don't let other people scare you off. Grey hair is not the end of the world. It's just hair. As big of a deal people make out of it at the end of the day it's nothing important. You still have your health and everything else great about you. You can't change your genetics and there's nothing to be embarassed about. When I first accepted when I was going bald, I took a hit to my self confidence. Then I realized (no s's here Wop, America, fuck yea!) how stupid it really was. It's just fucking hair! People make too much fuss about it. Now I don't look back. You could dye it, but you'd just be wasting money. If you really need to do it, then I can't say anything. I tried to hang onto my hair for a while before giving up on it. Do what's good and healthy for you. Definitely don't let these or other people make you think you're some kind of monster though.

My younger brother got gray hairs at 19. His hair is thick, and jet black. Apparently the darker the color, the faster it can go gray.

Could be worse, I have this absurd-looking widows peak because the hair along my hairline is so blonde that it's white. Because it's also so thin, in most lights, you can't see it. I've looked like I was balding for the last 8 years.

To OP, don't forget, you're asking a beauty question in a forum filled with n..nevermind.

Most of the people here don't care jack shit about their appearances.

once you start dying it, get ready to do it for the long haul.

next thing you know you'll be dying a full head of gray roots, and if you let that shit grow out everyone is going to notice, making you more insecure than you already are about it. Much easier to go the dye route if you have light hair, my hair is raven black so them shits stick out like crazy no matter the length of my hair.

I had a few gray hairs before I was out of high school. I'm 29 now and have a few more, to where it's pretty noticeable around my temples and sides of my head. Not really a big deal in my opinion, if I didn't have them people would probably think I'm still in high school b/c I look pretty young anyway.

Yeah, because I don't care about my hair becoming grey means I don't care about my appearance? Way to take that one way out of fucking context.

I'm 24 now and I started getting gray hair at about 21 or 22. I decided to dye it, but only because it was just one single strain of hair, like the size of Skittle, not even.

Also because I have long hair it kind of looks really silly, imagine a male Rogue from X-Men. I'll definetely let it be gray once it is a bit more spread on my head, but for now...dye it is.

Mine isn't wicked long or anything, but it gets a little jewfro-y if I let it grow out too much. Lots of good advice in this thread, but it looks like I'm sticking with the salt-n-pepper look. Hopefully I can pull it off for a long time anyway, so might as well keep it.

Some of us are a bit attached to our hair, like myself. I've got insanely long hair, and have had it that way since the early 90's. It's who I am. Others might not have hair that long, but they feel their hair is a part of what defines their looks. Losing it is not embraced by everyone, and not everybody can just shrug it off.

As far as losing your hair goes, my understand is you can't look at your father to determine whether you'll keep your hair or not, as it's a gene you obtain from your mother. You have to look at your grandfather on your mother's side in order to get an idea of whether you'll lose your hair or not. I've no idea if this also holds true for hair color and graying.

But it's still better having gray hair than no hair. Depends on if you're black or not though I guess.
Probably depends on HOW black you are, more likely.

If you're wesley snipes, on the other hand, shaved > silver.

My hair started thinning massively about 2 years ago (I'm 23 now), and it's 100% genetic. Every male on both sides of my family is pretty much bald 50+ and has been for a while so I succumbed to my fate and started doing the buzzcutt/shaved look. If I let it grow out even now it's completely obvious I have a receding hairline so I don't let my hair get longer then half an inch mostly. It was really hard for me to get used to because in my teens I rocked looooong hair and braids a shitload which was a huge part of my identity, but I preferred to cut it. Gray hair is the same thing but it hasn't happened to me yet and probably won't till my 40s~ judging from my family.

If you're insecure about it (like I was for a little bit, I'm used to it now~) just wear hats/beanies more often but otherwise, just play the cards you're dealt pretty much lol. I do get compliments about it, it does make you look more mature to people albeit limiting your hairstyles to a minimum><.

Every time I read that name, I hear that awesome chord they hit on the soundtrack.

I'm 29 and have noticed a few grays popping up here and there. The girlfriend likes it, so fuck it.

I got my first stray grays back when I was 21 and thought it was extremely early, but I guess not after reading this thread.

The first thing I thought of was, as many others have mentioned, at least I'm not losing hair. Plus my father and uncles on both sides of the family all have full hair in their 50s, so hopefully I'm good for a long time on avoiding hair loss.

I would also be curious about what percentage of people in their 50s/60s without any gray hair are actually that way naturally.

I'm 28 now, and I've been getting a few more gray hairs every year since ~19. Personally, I wish it would go faster cause I think the Salt and Pepper look is manly and sophisticated. If I can just get a job someday that has me wearing a suit, I'll be set.

My mother's father and all 3 of her brothers all have full heads of hair well into their middle/old ages. My father started balding in his 20s.

My older brother is starting to show a receding hairline.

I informed my mother some time ago that if I start losing my hair while my dad is still alive I intend to kill him.
