Ok well I got my stuff in and set up. I get the game running and i can get logged in and everything, but when i'm in game the monitor shuts off and wont come back on til i restart the computer. Pretty sure drivers from the card are up to date (1/18/11 is the date on the driver). Suggestions?

Well now the game crashes after a few mins of being logged in. It'll freeze for a moment, the monitor will shut off, come back on, black screen, and then when it comes back on the screen is black and it pops up "pol.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I just double checked and updated the drivers for my card and it's still no good. I tried finding where the error report was so i could post it but no such luck. I get into the Temp folder but cant find the file.

EDIT: Ran game without windower and the same thing happened, but instead of POL crashing, it went back to it and gave me this message: "terminated as error occurred in final fantasy xi. full-screen mode was lost. (-1)

Well I finally got home to check some of the other options that could be a problem and still no solution. I have .NET framework 3.5, have direct x, and disabled UAC. I was checking the event log and i saw under application and system errors the follow messages:

    Applications:

STacSV Event ID: 65535 - The description for Event ID ( 65535 ) in Source ( STacSV ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Connection to the Storage interface failed. (After googling I found out this is a Sigma audio error but I cant find a fix; maybe related to the problem?)

Application error Event ID: 1000 - Faulting application pol.exe, version 1.18.13.0, faulting module d3d8.dll, version 5.3.2600.5512, fault address 0x00048cf1.

Maybe these will be of some help. Also it's started flashing to black screen and closing Internet Explorer when it come back on(the same thing it was doing on FFXI when it would crash.)

    update your BIOS

    http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=161910

then after updated, when rebooting hit F2 or DEL (whichever enters your BIOS) and reset to default (or optimized if its an option).

also, does your device manager have anything that is expanded when you open it? with red ! or yellow ?

there is a yellow ! mark on the microsoft WINMM WDM audio. comparability. driver and the device status reads "a driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (code 32)" but I don't have speakers hooked up to it yet so idk if the audio works or if its even related to the problem.
