brb picking up Magic. Someone recommend me a good .dek for the magiks
I heard something called Jace or w/e was pretty good...someone good with all that magiks and wizardry inform me of this further pl0x
but seriously...I know there are gonna be some bk GK players who are gonna sack the fuck out of me with herp derp Necrovalley -> Cyber End -> Royal Tribute.
and as a blax man whose family has a history of high blood pressure and what not, this cannot be healthy for me.
I'm so out of my league here I wont bother posting
Why?
Just because.
magic strikes me as a game that requires a bit of brains to be good but this yugioh stuff seems like it's for dummies only
Correct me if I'm wrong since I've played neither... but aren't they the damn same?
I did play magic for a bit but that was forever ago so maybe things have changed by now
You fell into my trap card!
You are unable to breath for 2 days!
I never played much Yu-Gi-Oh, only because some friends at college did, did I learn anything about it.
It's, well, it's not "simpler" than Magic, because the rules are poorly translated and the timing/relations are badly defined. But it's, hmm, call it a smaller game.
Also, it suffers from the fact that, unlike Magic, it does not have a R&D team (of if it does, they're shit) whose sole job is to test and break and balance the cards. New YGO sets often came out with cards bant from tourney play because they were broken. With Magic, a day-one ban only ever happened once with a single card, iirc. Though there was Urza block.
This sounds familiar so I think that's about when I played. What was so bad about Urza?
What I know of yugioh comes from a few shows I watched but I didn't get the sense you could out think your opponents quite as much. Attacking and trap cards was what seemed to make up the card game
Yeah, YGO is a lot more "I GOT YA". With Magic, if you've got half a brain when designing a deck, you can put up a good fight. Though, there are so many ways to play, that the meta-game can feel a bit rock-paper-scissors.
As for Urza block, they tried some new mechanics out, and they turned out to be far more broken than originally anticipated. And even the non-broken cards had some strong synergies that resulted in too much "I do this, you lose." The most egregious example was the Tolarian Academy deck.
A lot of those artifacts seem older. I mostly played whatever it was called where you used recent cards and couldn't use anything before a certain point. When I did play where you allowed older stuff my favourite was using a mostly for fun deck that involved tons of discard from hand cards like hypnotic spectres, persecutes and other discard stuff I can't remember the name of. It made people really mad but I was so much younger than most of them at the time they couldn't get too angry.
I played around the time Destiny came out btw. I remember my first masticore like it was only 12 years ago
And now TG Hyper Librarian is confirmed to hit the states before Nationals.
GOD DAMNIT
that card, what the fuck
