Completely the opposite of my experience. Dynamis stopped offering people gear they wanted around 2007 and yet we were still stuck grinding through it for relics. First upgrade for emps may offer little reward but even cruor for kills is better than what most people get from dynamis. Upgrade to 85 gets ppl af3+2, seals for random jobs, and whatever other NMs you kill while you're in the zone.

Mostly agree with this. If your shell was grinding out relic weapons, you were probably stuck doing cities because they were more profitable (and easier for your average tard shell).

I wouldn't say that the 80 weapons offered little to nothing for the other people holding pops/killing NMs, though. My group is working on katana/gkatana and h2h/gaxe, so we were also getting pops for Hadhayosh (atma+gloves) and Lacovie (belt). Plus, we farmed most of our key items out of boxes so we got to do a lot of leeching on low level jobs.

The 85 is better in terms of rewards for the rest of the group (who doesn't want a bunch of +2s?), but I am so glad we're on our last one to upgrade. Claiming sucks. Watching tards claim it and not even bother triggering anything on it sucks even more.

To me, today's EndGame has been Trials. There are plenty of weapons and kills needed to reach that desired end-result. Come lvl 99, I'm curious where these trials will take us and how superior the weapons will be compared to drops throughout all game content.

Personally, I don't think FFXI's new Endgame content has even been released yet. Chloris/Ulhuadshi/Dragua trials are just a step up from Shoggoth/Farruca/Chesma in the path the Emps will need to take to 99. They are definitely not complete weapons, and hopefully their 95 and 99 iterations will prove to have as much as an increase in challenge as the previous tiers on that path.

Abyssea is only one half of Endgame. It's a way to get gear, and in that role it's an excellent event. NMs have low respawns, easy spawn conditions, high drop rates and Triggers allow us to "force" certain drops if we want them. Most everything can be killed in small groups as well, making it significantly more accessible to solo players and groups of friends. There is no "need" for a large linkshell, a full alliance, or "Filler" players in Abyssea.

Now, there's no question that Abyssea is over. The story has been concluded, the final boss has been defeated, and all the phat loots have been won. It's my hope that 91-99 will introduce the next half of FFXI's Endgame: Difficult, large-scale fights. It would function as a raison d'etre for our AF3+2 and Empyrean Weapons, if you will. Without the pseudo "God mode" that is Abyssean Atmas/Buffs, our character's stats rely more heavily on the phat lootz we've obtained from Abyssea. Between new "AI tricks" tested in Abyssea (Ie: Mobs leveling up, etc), and the greater versatility of the playerbase as a whole garnered from our new JAs, new SJ abilities, and new gear, I fully expect (and honestly hope for) some sort of PW 3.0 by the end of 2011.

true gamers want real challenge contents...but sadly, its an age of selling games...espceially alot of kids now are not up for challenge

just look at the difference between FF3/4/5 and FF10/12/13

from fantastic gameplay, lots of content/challenge to CG movie feast and walk in the park, linear gameplay with fucking radar telling you where to go

i hope FFXI goes into fucking hardmode, but it it happens, then alot of kids will complain, quit and SE loses out....

i miss 1990 gaming industry where nothing is handed out in a silver platter for you

double dragon 1/The legend of zelda/Langrisser 1/Shining force 1 anyone?

i doubt 1/2 of the people know what those games are and how tough they are at that period of time

    u mean ff11 offline?
    yes

you mean its hard with complete walkthroughs all over the net?

how abt a game where u miss something and you can never able to retrieve it ever again unless you replay. sounds retarded but its hardcore

"4 steps from the queens throne" you know which game this is?....1 of the few god damn impossible to find dragon hints at my time

you can of course get a walkthrough by buying a book

times have changed with interet and things gone easy mode, and gaming companies are now milking money than making actual challenge games

this is fact and we have to face it sadly...abyssea took this path....

this is main reason why i quit console games....except the few titles like FF and Winning Eleven(PES the NA call it)....ff13 is a very good 20 hour DVD movie, and i will buy 13-2!

i giggle a lil whenever i play 13 a bit....only use 1 character get the CPU to help you....and auto-chain? maps pointing to where you should go...mobs u can see and evade than random encounters....

wtf is wrong with kids these days.....being lazy has a limitation

at least vanille and serah keeping me happy

The question I have for everyone - should they continue on with AF3 armor, or should they just keep making new gear?

AF3+3 gear, or entirely new sets that obsolete empyrean armor by 90?

I'd personally be content if they just continued to build on the current magian/empyrean weapons, AF3 armor and fill in the weaker/nothing special slots with better options... (non-Suppa jobs could use a better 2nd earring to go with Brutal, etc...)

    we wont know

abjuration+sky was the shit and then salvage came blowing everything away

now we laugh at people wearing salvage gear

i predict soon AF+2 armor belongs to porter moogle, we did pay 9.99x3 to stay happy for 9 months tho...so no complains there

SE can easily make use for previous contents like making a BC needing 10 Wyrm Beard, 6 man BC killing shinryu w/o atma and brew to get 1/100 item for 99 empyrean

thats endgame there but honestly 80% of people will call it retarded and SE have to patch 3 days after

Well said, I hope this is true. Abyssea hopefully is not the path the rest of the content will take, hopefully it's just the means to releasing some type of large scale battle combining elements from many different already released events.

Dude, both fucking Lufia1 and Lufia 2 owned, I played through both of those game 100's of times. About a week ago, I bought that new DS version of Lufia1, and it's fucking horrible. Nothing like the original experience. :/

I think the most fun I've ever had with end game was back when 5/5 Salvage sets we're actually awesome. Grinding out my 5/5 Morrigan with a small group of friends. We got shafted with gear al lot, but we also got phat loots on some runs. Zhayolm Remnants was by far my favorite zone. Those frogs were a blast to compete with.

Always trying to break out best time was tons of fun.

I found it fun getting my Full +2 Empyrean set . It doesn't take as long, But i think thats due to drop rate being more stable, and i dont remember a day on BG where Drop Rate = Difficulty.

Hell, I Can faintly remember countless bitching about salvage, long ago, About how "It isn't hard, the drop rates just suck" "SE is so stupid, Bad Drop rate =/= Challenge i hate blah blah" etc etc.

So If i had to speak my take on Endgame? Easy to Easier. There was nothing difficult about Endgame Pre Abyssea outside of PW and AV, One of which was just an annoying Cockslap guarded by SE as their Precious love-child, and the other was an Obtainable goal if you worked hard enough. Outside of those two NMs nothing was really "Difficult". It was just a matter of drop rates being an atrocity for the most part.

Todays Endgame is now Abyssea, Of course. Right now It consists of either Waiting for a shout in Port Jeuno for something you want, doing LS Events in Abyssea, Or not having to wait for either and being able to grab 2-3 Friends and go accomplish something without needing a large group or a fucking Minimum number of players to enter.

I quite Enjoy Abyssea, and while im certain its going to disappear soon what with the final cutscenes of the latest expansion, I will still enjoy what Abyssea gave me. Abyssea gave me the feeling of, as its been described, "God mode". It made me feel like my Character had some sort of power, in fact it made me feel over-powered. It could still be a challenge fighting a mob i was uncertain about... But being able to win those fights with such small numbers is where my enjoyment came from.

To be Truthful, I literally went to around.. 10 salvage runs in my Lifetime @ 75. I wasn't really in the "Endgame Scene" back at 75. I hated Linkshell environments of Self-gain and Biases that most of Asura's Linkshells were riddled with. I hated the idea of Afking for 29/30 minutes for 3 hours at a time... I always wanted to do Salvage more than anything cause back then i wanted Skadi armor... But every shell that did it was a Low-man group, And i could never get in one, and to be frank i didn't have the know-how or patience to start an idiot pick up one. Which kinda made me sad i never got to truly experience that Super-Easy event with Low drop rate masquerading as a challenge.

This is only My Opinion, Agree or Disagree, I'll still love every second i spend on this game with my friends :3
