    Wait, Lufia 1 was hard? I played it back when I was a lot younger, so maybe I had more patience for it then..but I do remember playing it to death.

    I could see where Lufia 2 could be hard for people (I didn't have as much trouble with it as some). I also bought the new DS Lufia..and while I'll admit I wasn't a fan at first, I actually sort of like it. Some of the story changes are eh, but I feel like some of the characters are a little better fleshed out personality wise (though it still feels kind of rushed). Eventually I have to make a post about it on Zealot's blog, but other games first..

    As for FFXI, well, the accessibility of endgame is actually quite nice for some people, I'll admit. The easiness of obtaining Empyreans and other gear, however, makes a higher inclination of "We'll go off and duo it", which can be awesome for people who don't have as many friends on a server, but kind of sad if you were in a larger LS, as it has a way of fragmenting people. I dunno, there are things I like about it, and things I don't, but being able to curb stomp pretty much anything with my Monk and boxed WHM was fun at first, but kind of boring after awhile, since I realized I had plenty of offline RPGs I could be playing.

    Nostalgia goggles to a point.

    FFX and XII had enough legitimate endgame challenges to smoke some of the older FFs. As much as I love the older FFs, some were lacking in endgame content that was sufficiently made up by the 7/9/10/12 installments.

    While I agree to a point that some series have gotten easier over time in order to make it reasonable for people outside of the "hardcore gamer" circuit, you're forgetting that most people on these boards played those older games as kids and thus were unprepared for the challenges at the time. 7yr old versus an RPG designed for a teenager.... yeah.

    Fuck, I remember tossing my PS1/64 controller plenty of times as a kid but as you play more games you start to analyze shit different and with experience comes mastery. Todays games are only easier to you cause you've played games for years and know alot more than the average schmuck picking up a controller. If you want "real" challenge, RTS and Fighters cover the territory well.

    Anywho, back to XI. As much as id like to see "large scale" battles, I really don't want them to be something you need a largescale LS for. This breeds nothing but more botting and camping. If we want faction warfare again, Ballista - fix it.

    What SE should be focusing on is something more along the lines of campaign-style content but with more legitimate challenges that require people to team up in order to win. The problem with Abyssea is that it feels totally detached from XI and the game lacks community now.

    Walk of Echoes should have been the evolution in Campaign-style content - something difficult to contrast with Abyssea but SE dropped the ball and phoned in it. HNMs where you need the combined effort of the community in order to triumph is what XI lacks and until such, the game plays like an offline RPG when you're lvl99 with nothing left but the final story boss.

    This. Would be epic if at 99 it unlocks a few different PVP zones where you accumulate points towards further upgrades. All 3 nations battle it out against each other. Some means to balance underpopulated nations with buffs if the battle zones are lopsided. Toss in 4 or more instances to queue up ala Rift's Warfronts or Warhammer's Scenarios and you have a game that can sustain itself.

    Personally I've enjoyed the changes that have come via Abyssea. I would probably have never come back to this game without them. Camping against other people who more than likely bot-claimed everything day in, day out... no thanks. The fact that Abyssea has enabled low man content in a day and age where the population is lower than ever is necessary.

    End game though? I dunno. Like others have said, Empyrean weapons and gear. I've no idea what you're supposed to do with them when you get them though. Help others get them I guess. There's certainly nothing big to take down that's worth bothering with, other than to do it for the sake of doing it. Guess we'll have to wait to see what's in store for the 99 cap. I suspect that a team with as much creative juice to produce the Abyssea content can introduce something to keep us all busy for a very long time.

    Personally I hope that in addition to some big activities they don't abandon all the trial gear we've worked on. +3 and +4 would be great.

    Neither of those games was released in the 90s, both are Mid 80s.

    My guess is that if they ever do release +3s it will come a lot further along after the 99 cap and other endgame gear is implemented.

    I'm personally hoping they shift the focus back to old-school Dynamis with a limit of 64 players, because if there's one thing I truly enjoy in a game, it's spending time with 63 idiots who inevitably get me killed, steal my loot, and complain like it's their birth right. I also miss the sense of community that was created by spending three hours at a time waiting for a monster to spawn purple, and the camaraderie this engendered among the various endgame shells on the server. And I'm filled with profound sadness every time I kill a monster now and gear actually drops, because it was a much more rewarding feeling before when I had to repeat the same fight a few dozen times to get what I wanted.

    Wake me up when they decide to revisit that utopia.

    Nyo, I was doing those with NT long before the merge. lol It got ruined after the merge because one group of people stayed there 24/7 and charged people like 500k a spot and you'd only get in for 1 Astral flow of Exp then they'd boot you and get another person.

    Fucking Miggers had to go and ruin it.

    Exactly, which is why it was a ridiculous claim. I was pretty surprised that someone would believe that sort of thing.

    I guess you don't like +2 mats, getting KIs to actually fight said NMs, and procing blue at any time that isn't Blunt then!
