Going to be pissed if it's easier than Sigma2><, insane difficulty was what I liked about older NG . Not saying I didn't have problems but they were some of the toughest Xbox games I've had to beat lol. At least it sounds like the graphics and fighting system are going to be "refreshing" from that bold talk.

Edit: I meant trouble beating the ones before Sigma2 btw, that shit wasn't hard lol

Ryu Hayabusa is a great deal darker in Ninja Gaiden III. The upcoming sequel, announced during the Tokyo Game Show last year, focuses “more deeply on Ryu Hayabusa’s life and lifestyle and feelings and thoughts,” according to project lead Yosuke Hayashi.

During an interview with the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Hayashi told the mag that they’re “focusing on Ryu as a dark Japanese hero,” and due to the latter, “there won’t be new playable characters”.

The Ninja Gaiden series has always been known for its violence and rivers of blood, but Ninja Gaiden III will take it one step further — to a more emotional state.

“We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realize how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone,” he told the mag.

“It’s very important to us that people realize that violence is not only about blood and gore.”

In order to make the game more accessible to new players, Team Ninja is taking a “slightly different approach” with the difficulty level.

“We know that many fans feel good about the difficulty level, but we are taking a slightly different approach. It’s not that the game’s going to be easier – nothing like that. It’s just that we are trying to make a whole game, a more exciting game that can be enjoyed by anyone.

“But at the same time, hardcore gamers will be able to feel and appreciate what the series is about.”

The sequel will also offer a “complex multiplayer mode,” says Hayashi.

Ninja Gaiden III will launch simultaneously for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the mag’s confirmed. When pressed about whether it’ll support the PlayStation Move controller, Hayashi remained mute, saying it’s a closely guarded secret.

So we're gonna go emo for every kill we do? I hope ryu won't start tearing up when he's ripping people to shreds. And i'm not liking the approach to the difficulty, itagaki made the NG series insanely hard for a reason.

I think I'm gunna try to get into this series. I never ended up playing one tbh. Played through all the DMC's and uhh.. Onimusha, if that even counts.

Should I grab Sigma 1 and 2 and play through, or just 2 maybe or whatever? Hate being confused on storyline. Always heard good things about 2 though.

Try playing the ninja gaiden trilogy for the snes on an emulator too, wayyyy too much fun.

Um... I guess if you want a difficult challenge and frustrating, get ng1 on xbox and 2 on 360. Never played any of the sigmas so i can't speak for them as far as difficulty.

I thought NG was hard because of dial-a-combo technology + a shitty camera.

game will be easier, but im sure there will be difficulty modes to make it even harder then NG2. I'm excited the game will be easier anyways, NG2 was more frusterating then it was fun to me. Though you felt like a boss when you finally passed areas that you kept wiping to for hours lol

Ninja Gaiden Black for Xbox (original) or Ninja Gaiden 1 Sigma for PS3. Then either NG2 for 360 and Sigma 2 for PS3. The PS3 versions basically have more content but they tone down the difficulty quite a bit, so I guess decide of you want a challenge or some bonus sidecontent missions or just by controller preference... you're really not missing out by much by going for the original versions, although Sigma 2 does have a pretty cool co-op mode and 3 extra playable characters for mission mode.

    I broke 2 with NG2.

One on the wall and I snapped the other one with my hands in a fit of rage.

Hah, broken one myself. It was NG1 and Battletoads, but you know how that goes.

Day 1 buy. Totally ready to spend a dozen hours on the first group of enemies of the game on Master Ninja mode.

Nothing "hardcore" about NG2 besides broken enemies, lame combo system, and shitty camera angles. Artificial difficulty like that can get the fuck out the way for a better game.

NG2 was about as hardcore as completely playing through Superman 64.
