mergers wouldn't be so bad if they took a different approach, maybe something like:

Active accounts from Server1 and Server 2 to new server 3 ordered by date of char creation. Allow for one time post merge name change. Merge inactive accounts last or even to an "inactive bucket server" or something. Leave banned, etc. on original server for decomm. That'd both keep the most names, and free up a zillion names from banned/inactive accounts so ppl might be able to get a name they like better.

Caitsith is JP dominated. As probably with all servers there are some really dedicated players in both NA and JP; however, I've noticed there are more JP's that get shit done than NA's. That being said the NA's that get shit done get it done right.

EternalCalm is the only dominant NA LS that comes to mind, and I have never had an experience to say anything ill of them. I'm sure there's a few more, but EC is the only shell that still around from when I started playing 6 years ago, so it jumps out at me. Lately in Abyssea I've seen a bunch of shells that I've never heard of with 2 or 3 people lowmanning stuff, but like someone else said we're pretty UAE heavy.

There isn't too much cock-blockery in abyssea. I've run into it a few times where people won't share ???'s for pop NMs, and obviously Guk is over camped at times, but isn't too bad weekdays out of JP primetime.

We have our douchebags that think their shit don't stink, but who doesn't? We also have a ton of perle/aurore/teal onry's (or worse). Some are nice and worth hanging out with... some I think are trying to be just as bad as they can be.

...not looking forward to extra competition on abyssea NMs, but not much of anything I can do about it now. =/

Since people asked about Titan...

Most of our "BG famous players" have either long quit the game or have been banned. Currently, the most active Titan ppl I've seen on this forum are probably myself and Raineh (he posts as Afrohatch). Map is probably our most infamous citizen. We were also home to Bagel and Merona.

Our server is pretty slow when it comes to challenging ourselves, and I say this pretty objectively since I also spent time on Seraph and Unicorn before coming back to Titan. We killed AV back when Wall of Justice was useable. After that, AV remained unkilled for years until like 2 weeks ago. We've never had a Pandemonium Warden kill.

As far as Empyreans go, it's pretty slow during NA time though there is usually some type of comp and I'm guessing this will change once we merge. As with other servers, it turns into a cluster fuck on weekends or during JP time.

There's really not a whole lot to say about Titan. Most of the linkshells stick to themselves and, as far as I know, there is very little interaction between them now that kings have been phased out.

We're a fairly boring server now that HNM aren't camped most linkshells stick to themselves we have our own brand of idiots and most of them idle in port jueno making bad shout group empyrean farming runs which i assume is normal for most servers. People still resent volume/resonance for some reason even though we keep to ourselves much more then before. JP's arent too bad to compete with in jp prime time. You should worry more about the dumb na's who tend to take forever to kill emp mobs.

Linkshell wise only ones really worth mentioning are Resonance and Homing Missiles, I guess for EU players it's Finale. These 3 linkshells have killed av a few times and i think finale is the only one who hasnt killed pw yet.

People who post here from phoenix: Failure, Myself, DarkMagi (Dramatica), Isawa, Mazmaz, Dooom, Neosutra a few others and a bunch of anon trolls.

When they did Cerberus+Hades everyone was bitching up a storm but after all the smoke blew away I'd say it was a good merger. More shells more friends more competition. Abyssea might suck but kf they add enough new content the zones wont be as packed.

So what is the situation on Diabolos?

Siren seems to have more JP than NA. Around 1000-1600 in NA hours, and 1900-2200 in JP time. Abyssea NMs are mostly busy on weekends but not as bad during the week.

Hopefully this major update withe the Crest BC's or anything else might bring in a little non Abyssea content to keep people busy in other areas. Or it could be nice if they could add at least 1 or 2 more "???" spawn targets specifically for Empyreon targeted NMs.

Edit: I submitted a Twitter twat to Square asking for Abyssea ??? to pop multiple instances of the same NM. So if you think it's a good idea, go spam them with twats and hope they listen.

Phoenix is reasonable slow in that if you want to go farm a NM or Empy NM, you'll usually get some productive work done, even if you have 1-2 other people there, unlike some of the servers where you'll see 30 people at every camp 24/7. Most of the major LSs on the server have shifted focus to low man groups and completing Empyreans, which it looks like may become a bit more tedious after the transfer. I think 3-4 LSs have killed AV, a couple reliably farm it for what it's worth, and 2-3 have downed PW. Dynamis has pretty much died out and has shifted to mostly low man farming groups from what I've seen. Big LSs usually stick to themselves, and alternate between being courteous to each other and fucking each other over, for old times sake I guess. Res still has a good group of people, HomingMissile is still going strong, a few of the older legacy LSs are still around in various forms (Finale, Dawn, etc), but as you know Abyssea has changed the dynamics of end game.

As for the merge, I'm both excited about it and a bit perturbed. It will be nice to see some new quality people hit the server and potentially make some new friends. However we were enjoying being able to pretty much pick what we wanted to do any given night and go monopolize that NM/Empyrean/etc and get a a LOT done anytime we wanted. I just see a lot of productivity being decreased, people fighting for ??? pops, and so on, so we'll see how it pans out.

On the plus side, more competition means more gil when selling drops..!

This is kind of messed up because the only reason players are upset about this is because of Abyssea competition. In every other regard there are lots of benefits for having a high population server.

Square could easily help ease the congestion a lot though. All they have to do is change Abyssea NM "???" spawn targets remain targetable and capable of spawning 2-3 copies of the same NM. And might as well just make freespawn NM's into item spawned (freespawn NMs are never a good idea Square, not in 2004, and not now durr).
