I hate large groups more than anything in the world. I hate even Exp alliances, I hated Dynamis back in the day, i hated anything where i had to be in a group with 17 other incompetent dead-weight dumb-asses who could not claw their way out of a paper bag without someone telling them how to step by step and holding their hand all the way through it.

The "Small group" aspect is what i loved about the Level Cap increases, Salvage, and say Abyssea all together. Level Cap increase allowed you to do older events with less people, Salvage was a event focused around 6-7 People, Small... Abyssea is the same, 2~6 w/e.

I can join my Friends, my RL Friends who i know aren't idiots, And we can accomplish something in this game without having to invite dead-wieght just to be able to enter the event, or to be able to stand a chance to win.

When i enjoy the Social Aspect of FFXI (Lol?), I'd rather be in a large Social LS, and do things low-man with a group of friends i know won't be afk dead-weights only magically returning from AFK in time to ninja lot the item they wanted. -.-, Instead of being forced into a group.

I really don't see whats so appealing about 18man+ Events. The only thing it does is force you to spend more time at an event you long since burned out on. I understand the community aspect of the game, But get a social LS for gods sake. I do not want to be forced to group up with 17 other idiots for a slim chance to outlot that "guy" (You know who im talking about. The level 81WAR/36NIN who somehow managed to get into the event and lots stuff for his sub jobs he might level some day).

I won't be GROSSLY upset if the game switched from its focus of Low-man events to Large-Scale Only... I think It'd be the time i finally quit. The idea of being forced to join another giant dead-weight Linkshell just to be able to accomplish anything burns me out.

Don't even suggest joining a "good" Linkshell. They don't exist on Asura. Its either full of Egotistical asshats with superiority complexes cause they run a linkshell, Dumbasshats, or just Asshats. There are no good Linkshells left in FFXI that are Recruiting

Anyway, I know my opinion is probably not in the majority and im not asking you guys to see from my point of view Play the game how you want. I just hope level 99 isn't disappointing.

Kind of true, but as a mostly casual person these days because school is more important, I only really get to play on weekends and holidays, and the occasional days where I don't have any important work. (oh so rare ) It's annoying enough trying to get anything done on weekends, it's going to be even worse and impossible now.

With more people being put on those servers it's time for those 36 man Kindred Crest battlefields.

This is all it comes down to, really. The reason people are so upset is because there are only 9 zones worth being in right now. It goes back to the whole adding new content/revamping of older content to make it worth doing again.

Nope. Most NAs here are idiots, with "endgame" being so lowman focused, most "Linkshell" groups that are still around are all pretty bad and full of crappy people. There's a guy with a Masamune and probably a Kannagi by now, and his war sub is underleveled, and his gear sucks, but he's in what used to be one of the top LS's of the server. It's that bad.

On the JP side, 90%+ of everything is just shout and pick up now. All those clusterfucks of Japanese spamming the shit out of Abyssea are almost all just shout pick ups, who WILL NOT invite foreigners. Don't even bother trying.

I'm sure you can find some competent people on this server and put together a PW alliance, but it wont be as easy as just finding some LS to use your pop.

Heck, I'd be down for it, I need PW atma too.

Also, there's a difference between competition and frustration.

This wouldn't be so much of an issue if the entire game didn't revolve around only 9 zones. If they had waited until they added a crapton of content that sits side-by-side with Abyssea, merging servers wouldn't be so bad of an issue. But as things are right now, this is ridiculous, and will congest already congested areas, and will only lead to frustration for everyone.

Also, I've been using google translate to read what the JPs have been tweeting about this, does anyone know what the fuck "mackerel" is actually supposed to translate to?

Edit: @Sho: If Carbuncle wasn't also getting merged, I'd probably consider moving back I don't think there are that many oldschool people on Carby left that still remember me, or actually even like me, lol. I'm pretty sure I got on nearly everyone's bad side in at least one point in time. But then again, I don't really have too many friends on Odin either, but I'm kinda stuck here for reasons I don't want to get into.

I been saying this for years, and ppl complain to me all the time on my server, but we have lazy assbackward NA (like me!), and super elitist, hardworking, never sleeping, gaijin hating JP-- 2:1 or 3:1 JP to NA population, so enjoy trying to claim anything with the name "Gukumantz" or "Amun" as well as seeing the Carabosse ??? spot.

GR is still around as an LS, but inactive; they probably got bored with maxed out whitebox characters. Some moved onto Gliepnir & Nibelgenhort (or however you spell that LS these days, Bison's LS). Others like Gentleman is long gone from what I've seen. They still have the Mcdonalds super bot in Aery tho, good times.

Raen lied, we do have a calender. This is the link to the JP Mobile/Cellular version of the scheduler for the regular, and the COP areas. This works for editing the bookings.

The English versions for the regular, and COP areas, as far as I know, still only works to let you view, and not change, the schedule.
