My husband and I moved from Shiva to Ramuh and didn't have to change our names. Now we have to come up with new names on Bahamut. Bugger all.

Is there an error for name choosing at the moment? Everything we've tried has been taken already. We've tried a couple dozen names.

EDIT: Took a couple of hours but we finally came up with three names that worked. I hate all three of them.

Phoenix never had any shouting. I'm guessing the reason it's so active is a bunch of overexcited spergers craving attention from the new people.

I feel your pain. I had to change my character name even though the only character on the AH shows no activity since 2009. I got something somewhat acceptable as I was expecting SE to not delete inactive characters before merging us.

Also, I'm getting a whole "something's not right feel" running around in FFXI. Granted, my name changed, but something just feels different.

I told a coworker at work and she said it made her think of the Sheldon character on The Big Bang Theory when they flip his couch cushion.

I know exactly what you are going through. After several hours we finally gave up trying to get a decent name and just changed letters in our original names until something worked. Calais to Calain and Meara to Meare. Both are hateful.

However, talked to a GM about changing Calain (the more horrifying of the two):
