I would, if I've got my camera with me and wanted to preview on a bigger screen than my LCD, but whatever, can't do any editing on it so it doesn't matter.

It's not a god damn computer replacement.

Like death and taxes, another Apple thread deteriorates into Apple bashing. I'm sure the next post will be about how Apple forces people to pay for yet another accessory. Of course, if one was to look at it another way, one could say that the majority of customers are saving money by not having to pay for hardware that a minority of customers would use. I thought the same thing when Apple decided not to include the optical drive in the MacBook Air. I haven't used my optical drive on my notebook in over a year.

Apple and Google are companies that are moving towards cloud-based environments. We should all start getting our minds wrapped around it now. I, for one, prefer more cloud methods of transferring data rather than using SD cards and USB sticks.

I'm fine with adapters. If it makes a lighter device, i'm all for it, as long as if i *NEED* to I can use an adapter to plug in something I need, i.e an optical drive to reinstall an OS, or what not.

A picture of your macbook air would be equally amusing.

Oddly enough I'm posting this from my xoom. I'm not going to bash apple if I can avoid it. I must admit tho, I owned an iPad and I would never consider going back to an apple product anytime in the near future. They are just too restrictive, I like my giant ti calc and emulators. I love tabbed browsing. I'm happy I'll actually have flash. I'm glad apple made the iPad and pushed the tablet market, I'm just not happy with the way they deal with their products.

For anyone who asks why do I use a tablet over a net book, I don't have any classes this quarter that require a lot of note taking otherwise I'd be using my net book. I like the tablet in class over the net book as long as I don't need to take notes. My books are all digital and it's easier to read them using the tablet, they don't have the same zoom options on the net book. Also batter life is way better. I only need to charge once a week with how often I use it, vs. The net book which I charge every 2 days. It is also a lot lighter, but that is more of a bonus rather than a reason. Is that worth the $600 I paid? I was going to get an ereader anyways, and I really don't have anything else I really want to spend money on right now. I really like it, but it's not for everyone.

As much as I wish for a USB slot, at least Dropbox is available for iPhone/ipad, which I make major use of. If anything, I'm more disappointed that we still don't have a cloud sync (or hell, even local WiFi sync would be nice). I get Apple wanting to integrate with iTunes, but having every single device completely tethered to it via a USB cord is highly annoying.

Plus the pain, if just in a horrible 3g zone at the moment and no wifi, you are stuck. With the usb or SD slot, you always have that option of getting the data you need when you need it. I dropbox shit between work and home all the time, but the important stuff I still USB key also because I just never know when I might lose internet and yet really need something. And having to carry around an adapter with it really kinda defeats the entire purpose of the tablet. If I need a case with attachments or something, I might as well carry a notebook. The appeal to me, especially with this new case design they have is I should be able to carry just the tablet. Portable, easy, right there.

I'm more convinced than before, after I spoke with another student in class who did have an iPad. Appearently there's a service on campus that will put your books into .pdf (the book gets eaten in the process, unless they already have it on record), so the guy basically carries around no books, just his iPad.

For not taking, he does carry around s small bluetooth keyboard. Mostly it's used for a lot of small various things (today we used it for a team project, research, accessing the class website for information we need, and of course for his text book). The portability and battery life were major factors in his reason to purchase it. Ad that into aall the other neat uses for it, and it just seems a no brainer.

I keep looking at other tablets, to see if one better fits me, but so far no go. This may simply be due to the fact that i'm someone who liked FF13, but didn't like Fallout The restrictions really don't bother me, except the Flash issue >_>

The figures I see have it around 63%, so that's about right. Adobe is making a version that'll be available on all the new android honeycomb devices and assuming you believe their marketing, the new version is less resource intensive and more battery friendly. Assuming that's the case, there's little if any good reason to not incorporate it into the ipad at this point. The flash thing got really annoying for me when one of my online classes required it and the program I use to tutor some other students requires it as well and there isn't a better solution out there currently. If there was an full featured collaborative whiteboard that ran on the ipad and allowed other non-apple users to connect and voice (or video) chat, I'd be happy. Until then I'm gonna stick with the xoom.

I still don't really understand the reason. They're solid computers so I've heard, but it really just comes down to price being the problem?

I'll admit I was disappointed when the Ipad 2 was released but I still think it's a decent product. No one NEEDS a tablet period. Are they nice? Definitely. I would be buying an Ipad 2 myself if i didn't decide to go Panama instead for SB. Oh and hasn't anyone heard of Skyfire? That allows Flash videos on Ipad,Iphone,Itouch. http://www.skyfire.com/
