Every time.
Every time.
I rolled cleric because when i played beta, being able to handle 10 mobs at once sold me on it. Plus healer, tank, or dps = fuck me
Plus chain armor is so hot. Wish i could wear it on my rogue instead of the crap we get.
7 hour expert RD run, 3 healer came and went, 43 wipes on final boss to finally have a blue helm. Just wonderful, it feels like ffxi all over again!
^ And that is why no one pugs.
I do not think its that easy... its more like the "average person hates to be blamed for the groups failure". Thus they do not heal. As you point out, the average person also likes to feel powerful. With tanking that's easy, you hold hate and don't die you feel powerful. With DPS you see big yellow numbers scroll by and you feel powerful (even when your yellow numbers completely suck, you still feel powerful.)
Chloro is a huge step forward in creating a new design for healers for sure. It is not the way I hope healing goes for the majority of things to come. We see WoW trying to do something similar and while it is overpowered in some encounters it becomes less and less so in others. There are some huge downsides to Chloro healing and some huge upsides.
My complaint is the fact that there are 4 healing specs in the game, and 3 of them are from the same "class", "calling" whatever. Why is there not another healing class in this game? Three of the 4 callings can Tank, 3 can Range DPS, 3 can be melee DPS, 3 can be support classes (if you count Warlord), but only 2 can heal. This limits those people who want to heal even more. Pugs suck, we all know they do. Pugs in 2hour long dungeons suck even more. Being able to have any 5 people in your guild be able to adapt to what's needed would go along way to making this game into the game it wanted to be.
Have the DPS spread out after his RAWR I ARE BIG I KEEL U phase, and make them all go clockwise so you don't miss a single add. They all spawn at the same spot each time, so once you did it a few times you know where they will be. The fight is one of the easiest T2 final bosses, PUGs simply suck so bad. With my guild we go through all T2s (except DSM) without a single wipe, yet with PUGs it takes us an hour on each boss, even with vent, even with example videos. Going to try it again tonight, we'll see how it goes!
Even with all this talk of horrible PUGs, i might still do them. You might meet friends!
Why the fucking fuck does no one fucking know how to do the fucking final boss of fucking charmers fucking caldera. Even if i fucking explain it i still get stuck for fucking 2 hours on the fucking final boss.
....fuck
How is end game? I'm about to hit 50 (started the game like 2-3 weeks ago) and a few friends have been 50 for a little bit.. and while we all knew it would be identical to WoW, it seems its a bit more daunting then they expected. Rep grinds are off the charts and make WoW's grind's look like an episode of Sesame Street. You barely hit honored in any zone you level though and you out lv any of the rewards from the venders, so the only point to go back is for achievements. While fun, for the most part, I never saw rifts as anything but gimmicks.
I'm really just wondering if the expert grind and raids are worth it, from ppl who have alrdy been there? I want to like the game, and do enjoy the leveling process for the most part (exposed makes me rage like no tomorrow). I just think the lack of balance of souls (basically there are 5-6 classes in the game), the ability of everybody to be 4 different souls is a bit too versatile, the extreme rep grind, may not be as worth it as originally thought.. and if thats the case would prefer to play the game I'm alrdy more progressed in thats identical to rift.
I'm kinda in the opinion of waiting to see what the next major patch brings in regards to soul / class balancing and overall game design tweaks. But, overall, I'm just looking for some opinions
It's worth it if you're in a good guild and progressing. At the same time, it depends what you want to accomplish i suppose. Clearing Greenscale felt like i accomplished more than i did in 6 years of XI. The rep grind isn't all that daunting if you have a guild that runs dungeons constantly or even goes and farms rep in an alliance in Stillmoor or where ever. I'm also of this mind because i didn't have an MMo when Rift launched so it may be totally different for you. We had a FoH member tell us during beta that he compared Rift's endgame to vanilla WoW's, as in it was made for the 5% crowd. Having no experience with that game, i can't really comment on that except to say it's been challenging.
It's worth it even if you aren't in a guild. While it may be frustrating at times, the dungeons in this game truly offer a challenge, as opposed to the classic zerg it or clear-it-in-20-minutes dungeons in my previous MMOs. I'm just yet starting to get a static group running with 3 people I have ran dungeons with almost everyday for the past 3 weeks, and clearing T2s for the first time is very rewarding, and it is even more when you go back the 2nd/3rd time and cut your clear time in half. Everything is farmable but still needs people to know every dynamic and not fuck up for the whole duration of the fight. I haven't bothered with rifts or pvp ever since I got to 50 because, for me, the most work was put in the dungeons and it shows (although there are way too many trash pulls before bosses)
Random rant, our guild has been downing shard first content for a while but every time we do we never get the server wide announcement, only the verification for us in chat with regards to achievements/loot. Well, I've petitioned this a few times and for our most recent Lord Greenscale kill. Here's the response from a senior GM, mind you we have proof of doing the content first, "Unfortunately, if the server first announcement did not broadcast at the time of the kill, this means that your guild was not the server first to kill Prince Hylas and Greenscale. We apologize for any confusion."

stressing that much over the server announcement?
