Spell scrolls, at least when I leveled my mule 2 months ago...each individual one isn't too bad I guess, but it adds up quickly.

Abyssea can and is very overwhelming it was even for me and I been wasting my life on FFXI since 2003, but the best way to learn is to ask people in game, and dive in head first.
I will be honest people love to bash Wiki but it gives a lot of useful info and even though not perfect it will generally guide you in the right direction.

I have a new character (like 5 months old at this point), and shit is more affordable now than it ever was. I had zero problems keeping up-to-date standard AH gear on everything I was leveling, it's a shitload easier now than it used to be. Remember what a nightmare it was to get a haubergeon back in the day? Yeah, it's like 15k now on my server.

I don't understand how people get to 90 with shit like fang necklace when spike is more or less free. Gearing yourself doesn't even become remotely daunting until you get to abyssea and the mountain of r/ex gear it has.

I just came back about two weeks ago and starting from scratch. Granted I have the advantage of knowing what to do and where to go, but things are so much easier, and so much more fun! And as far as exp, I have 31mnk, 35whm, 22rdm, 16thf, and 10blm so far.

Abyssea though just seems like a headache right now because I have no understanding of it. I joined a social LS and everyone is very friendly and is helping guide me though. Just ask questions!

I came back about a month ago and started from scratch. It has been a bit rough to get the gil to buy all my spells for BLM and RDM. I made a little money by winning some lucky bids on AH and reselling...can't depend on that though. I am not hugely worried about being the best geared player on the way to 90, just good enough 'till I can actually start farming/crafting/selling NM drops. I have solo/duo'd to 26rdm and 20blm, but haven't had a party yet and don't know if there are any. (I haven't seen anyone seeking yet) Maybe the server merge will help with this.

ran into two guys in a Qufim party you didn't have their Kazham access yet. Apparently, they had started playing a week ago.

Come to think of it, I don't think Khazam pass is even needed really. Unless you want to do Zilart etc. It's not needed for leveling at least.

My Qufim party yesterday had 3 people (myself included) without kazham access so we had to split at 26 lol.

It'd be cheaper to make a new character and buy gil than to spend $25 and xfer

Also depending on your job you can solo in qufim @26 on worms, level whm for cureII and run around with regen/autorefresh and you should be good till 30, then go unlock DNC and then your rolling :D

Or do what myself and indy did which was sync to someone who is 18-20 and do page 1 bubu peninsula. With rings I was pulling 11-12k an hour.

Eh I'm doing alright with the odd party here and there and getting the rest of my levels from questing. Went from 26-27 just getting 1 of the kaz keys so I'll prolly be at least halfway to 28 after the next two if I have good luck with drops XD I think I'll just level sam to 45 and not worry about levelling up dnc for sub when low lv soloing.

I don't see why anyone would want to deal with leveling in the jungles anymore, when there's much easier close-to-home FoV or even WotG zones to do instead.

I actually had an old school Yuhtunga party not long ago which is why I say this. It was terrible! For all the usual reasons; Dream Flower and aggroing Goblins. For exactly 2 minutes there was a feeling of a quaint nostalgia, followed by an irresistible urge to be playing a different game.

Attempting to play again after a 1-2 year "hiatus", Abyssea looks interesting and I hear the game is much more solo friendly these days(I really liked the FoV things, and apparently you can do them more often now?).

Pain in the ass trying to get back into my account though. Wtf is with this 3-D Verification thing? La la la on hold with SE for 20 minutes trying to get past this crap.

P.S.- I tried the bypass thing that someone posted from youtube in one of the recent-ish threads...didn't work for me

Don't suppose this Crysta stuff works for FFXI?
