Do people still party at lower levels? I know I'll eventually pick up Abyssea, but I read that's what people do for exp on jobs above 30 now... I just want a few old-fashioned parties.![]()

Here lately I've heard a ton of people complaining about the lack of low-level partying. But Titan is a dead server anyway.
If a group is out to kill NMs with the absolute fewest number of people all on optimal jobs, then yeah, it's true that RDM is dead inside Abyssea. HP pools are enormous and WHM's healing ability runs circles around RDM.
I'm usually asked to play THF or BLM in Abyssea, but if we have enough people to cover all our bases, then I'm occasionally asked to play RDM. RDM is not necessary at all in Abyssea, but ParalyzeII and SlowII still make fights against susceptible NMs so much smoother. It also never hurts to have another person to share the load with Hastes and status cures.
RDM is still the top healer outside of Abyssea. Nukes, Enfeebles and adequate cure with amount of HP we have outside. I would take RDM over WHM anyday outside, especially for something like Salvage.
Isn't WHM a hell lot more emnity efficient for healing outside of Abyssea though?
If you enjoy level syncing in Qufim island to 75, maybe. On Asura currently, there is only 36 people lfg in the 30-70 level range. If I were to try and make a PT, and assume no one is afk seeking or would reject me, I'd be lucky to make a ToA/MMM bird PT for the 54-58 range, and that took awhile to get arranged last time I had a PT organized.
Thanks for the info. Couple of friends I know irl play on Shiva, and suggested I come over. I wanted to change my name(too long) so I tried to make a new character with my current name on Shiva, but it wouldn't let me. Is the Shiva server full? Gonna be kind of bummed if I can't transfer over lol.
EDIT: Guess I should say I was trying to find the answer on google but couldn't find a thing.
Edit again: Found it, after a bit more searching... Certain servers are blocked til the merge, looks like. Guess I'll have to wait til May to transfer.
Shiva is one of the servers that will be affected by the upcoming World Merge in May. As a way to avoid all the tomfoolery that happened with last year's server merges, SE disabled the option to transfer to or create characters on the affected worlds.
You'll be able to transfer to Shiva after the May update (as well as create that mule and force a name change).
I don't want to start some stupid alla whm vs rdm shit but doesn't vert and refresh being available to whm pretty much kill the whole reason rdm was better than whm at 75?
I think his point is that rdm is better because it can do all the required healing while also enfeebling and nuking.
whm can easily get 18mp/tic with just itself and a bard now outside of abyssea, and has much better cures and -enmity options. So if it came down to just who's a better healer, I'd have to give it to whm personally, but rdm has more utility.
WHM was a better healer than RDM even before they got their updates. Getting the feeling people either blindly assumed RDM ruled because of Refresh/Convert or were constantly exposed to shitty WHMs.
It wasn't about healing only, it was said but RDM has more utility. C4 was enough, and is now, to handle curing needs and they also get para2/slow2/dia3 ontop of decent nukes (Bliz/fire/aero4).
Though it is prolly going to be a lot of crap, with the new updates we also have 0 idea what kind of new toys whm and rdm will get, so its hard to predict who will actually end up outperforming the other in future events like this voidwatch thing.
Kinda already been answered but, no not really. Having done a couple jobs recently, the only invites I ever got were for Qufim or dunes. The couple times I considered starting eron parties, there were never more than 4ish people seeking between 30 and 70ish. And, of course, half the people seeking didn't have any gear at all.
ecxept for salvage whm + sch far surpass rdm healing. WHM just for the fact that they can hit the cure potency cap so easy and the emp legs conserve a hell lot of MP, dont forget that whm can /rdm anyway. WHM can get a 7MP refresh idle set, I am sitting currently at 4MP idle set (yes rdm can get that too), missing owleyes, fresh pin and body+2.
SCH/RDM is outside of Abyssea a fucking MP battery. Improved sublimation, Conserve MP trait + Conserve MP on light arts + 6 MP idle refresh set (missing here only owleyes and fresh hairpin ._.). The only thing its lacking atm is haste if you go /rdm, but that would be adressed at lvl 99 anyway. I dont even think that SCH needs /RDM with the improved sublimation and a 6 MP idle refresh set.
RDM for healing is kind of a 3. choice for me.
To be "perfect" an outside abyssea pt would be nin + mnk + rdm + whm + brd, with the 6th being war or blm depending what you're fighting. It boils down to making your whm function like he's in abyssea then throwing the strong defensive dd's at shit, and carrying one of the glass cannons for when needed. (yes, I'm aware neither war nor blm is fitting the term glass cannon at this point, but whatever)
Hm maybe I should change what I said then. Overall, for healing related duty and additional utility, I would choose RDM. How is WHM better than a RDM when RDM can nuke to speed things up, especially in Salvage? In addition to the nukes (which obviously SCH can do) they get para2/slow2/dia3, longer enhancing magic duration for less time casting it and more time nuking, addle (if needed), decent melee (if you bring a build.. lol, almace). MP really isn't an issue when deciding which one is better, obviously there are means to recover it pretty easily nowadays. It's hard to beat that extra utility though that RDM gives for older events. C4 is more than enough healing power, especially considering you can get 35% or more cure potency on RDM for a easy 530+ cure.
Edit: Missed the "Except for Salvage" part. I dunno, I would still choose a RDM to main heal for most fights outside... Anything low man, something like Sea jailers etc.
