They could've at least give us Anima or Guadian's Aspect as a reward xD that wouldn't be game breaking.. but some stupid Equipment reward meh -.- If the intention was to add some lore for the RP's or something like that, than no reward at all but more Cutscenes... some little entertaining

    Oh well... I already said we gotta sit there until end of June and then we can finally play consistently :D GoGo Joshi >_>;

Oh SE is gonna die when the official forums launch lol omg dramalama

EDIT: Fortunately all we need now is another one of Yoshida's plane adventure letters and everyone will love him again.

No, I'm wondering why in a game with such a limited amount of progression options they decide it's a good idea to not let you get SP from the mobs you farm, since the gear rewards are horrible.

Meh, I can't believe what some of you are saying. Just adding an exp reward and keeping the quests as-is is completely lazy. Fuck no they would be "fine". The gear rewards will prolly become worthwhile after they're done with whatever they're about to do but the quest has to be worth doing in itself, not because there's a fucking carrot. Especially when the game clearly doesn't revolve around these quests and whatever exp bonus they add you'd still be more likely better off exping using other methods. As far as the numbers go, if they could add at least 30 quality quests by the time of PS3 release for every city that would be plenty for the time being. Instead we'll probably get 300 quests like this if we don't say anything.. It's not like we need another means of getting to the cap with the way the curve is already either.

I can see them giving us more options through other means later, really. They'll improve GL's, they are still going to implement Hamlet battles and it looks like they are not against exp grinding either. Should you be looking at the update at a face value or as the start of the transition period to whatever their "vision" at the end is? They already "nerfed" grinding so it's not like we need to get to the cap any faster than we do now, at least for the time being.

They were probably worried that players would find a loophole for easy xp (kill the same easy quests mobs without turning in the quests). Because there isnt many quests and they are repeatable, it doesn't really matter.

It's a stupid move no matter what though, leveling a characters shouldn't be such a chore.

Also, everyone doesn't care about lore. I'm reading the newest WoT novel, thats lore, this is a video game. A game that makes you mindlessly grind on mobs for hours, then go do quests totally seperately, and is ultimately silly.

The quests suck apparently and I was considering logging on if there was even a hint that they would be interesting. Oh well.
I think you'll find one of the main complaints about this game right now is the lack of lore, but do keep going.

My new players comment is because SE needs hundreds of thousands of new players if the game is to be a success. I guarantee you SE care more about making the game great for them than they do for us.

Not to derail the arguments over whether the quests are good or not but...

I noticed Gridania and Ul'Dah both have 6 quests, while Limsa only has 5 listed. Any one find out if there is a quest in Limsa that requires a pre-req quest sort of like "The Ultimate Prank"?

    Can't please em all....
Slow and steady wins the race as we were all firsthand witnesses to the rushed product that got served to us.

I'll take solace in these small quests while the game keeps changing for the better. I'm not greedy, and I have a job so $70 spent 6mo. ago isn't hurting me.

My point about new players is these quests aren't going to make someone reading this forum, or any other forum reporting on the game go out and buy it. Probably because everyone but you think they suck. Even Hyan thinks they suck for the most part!

As far as lore, everything I have heard says its not even good lore. Its about as much to do with lore as a WoW quest. No cs or interesting characters at all. I also don't think lack of lore is a main complaint about this game, maybe one of your main complaints but not the player/lurker base as a whole. Maybe some people will come post and prove me wrong, and call me a faggot or something else as intelligent.

If you don't think lack of quests has been a big complaint then I don't know where you have been. I very much doubt people are requesting lots of quests just for some SP rewards that will be insignificant compared to a guild leve or grinding party. They want quests because they want to learn more about the game world. I say "they" because I couldn't give a fuck about quests. I only just completed the rank 38 story quest last night and I've been able to progress that far in the story since like October.

Quests might not attract new players alone, but it gives them something to do when they start playing and an easy way to get certain gear pieces. Gil may be easy to obtain but a new player still starts with 0. Having a cutscene doesn't make a quest better, books hardly have images or movies and they can be interesting. What makes a good quest is the lore and the task given. But that's just my opinion, some people might prefer talking to an NPC, seeing a cutscene and getting a stack of dodore wings at the end of it for their efforts. This is why it's important that the game eventually has a variety in quests.

If you don't think the general MMO population wants exp from their quests, then I don't know where you have been as far as MMOs goes. Standard stuff since 2004-2005 unless you were stuck in XI.

Be glad people are simply asking for exp from quests rather than demanding a questing system for leveling in place like most MMORPGs in the market have.

    Amen to that.
And like I said before, quests are not intuitive at all. Every other MMO now will put NPCs for quests like this in places that the players will run into as they reach the level quest requires, aka outposts, camps, etc. SE placed the NPCs in stupid random places where they are just out of the way. FFXI quest system was a piece of shit, get over it. FFXI was my favorite MMO ever and I'm in no way gonna defend those quests. Mission quests were fun but other than that most quests were fail.

Why? Is it because they didn't have cheesy indicators over their heads and huge arrows to point people and hold their holds and show them where to go? Before wiki it was an adventure trying to figure shit out in FFXI

I've been getting SP from my quests since September, perhaps you've been playing the wrong game. The quests I want now are where I can learn about the world. I want to know why Nine Ivies is thousands of feet in the sky, I want to know why Mor Dhona is so messed up, I want to know WTF is going on at Blue Fog, I want to know why there's a hidden town southwest of Halatali etc.

Shit like that is what will motivate me to do quests, not small amounts of SP. What I do want is SP from the mobs I kill in a quest, that's different. If you don't give a fuck about the lore in the game you already have what you're asking for, and they'll be way more efficient than any lore quests they add, they're called guildleves.

Somehow you seem to be under the assumption that an exp reward at the end of the quests would remove any kind of storyline or lore they would've had without it, which is not true. At the very least, you seem to think it would devalue it.

You and I would do the quest because we want to know about Ala Mhigo, others would do the quest because they're bored of grinding and/or are out of guildleves, but would still like to advance a little. You shut down a group of players by not adding the exp, yet keep both by doing so.
