It's supposed to be like that on all highways but people in MA adopted a "Go however fast ya want as long as you can weave in and out of lanes" mentality. If you're traveling the speed limit in the middle lane it's common to have someone fly up your ass going 10-15 over and pass you last second in the right lane when the left is completely open.
Working as intended.
After moving to MD I began to miss PA drivers. It's one of those things I never thought I'd say (since everyone seems to think where they live has the worst drivers). I even did an intentional experiment where I drove 10 or so over the limit in the left lane on the way home from PA to MD. Every single PA driver I came up to that day pulled to the right as I gained on them and I was able to pass .... until I hit a MD driver who didn't give a fuck that I clearly had caught up to him and I had to pass him on the right. In MD every driver treats all 4 lanes of I-95 as "I'll go whatever speed I want lanes".
Then again, there weren't any left lane exits near me in PA and there's several here in MD that make me all awkward when I move over and suddenly I'm the asshole slowing them down because I have to get off on the left and I don't feel like doing 85 MPH.
I hate the times where you come up on someone going 5-15 under, go to pass them, and suddenly they speed up. So, maybe you're going 2-5 over and need to decide... go a little faster (and possibly get pulled over on unfamiliar roads) or slow down? Only by this point someone is either tailgating you or a congo line started behind the initial car. Bonus points if your exit is within a half mile.![]()
Personally I hate when I'm going 15 over the limit and I have someone riding my ass because its not fast enough. Welcome to MA!
I have family down in Silver Springs. I've made the trip more times than I can count. Drivers in MD are BATSHIT INSANE. If you're not going 25 over the limit and tailgating the guy in front of you while swerving between two lanes playing on your cellphone you just don't fit in. Luckily I don't even come close to sniffing 95. I take 70->270->370->200 if memory serves. And even that shit gets chaotic. I don't even bother leaving if it gets me down there in rush hour. Fuck that noise.
At least people in NJ usually stick to 15-20 mph over the limit.
The DC area is batshit crazy because everyone in the area...didn't learn how to drive the same way. When I drive up to see friends in NJ and get off of 95, it suddenly becomes the most relaxing driving ever.
Around here, the mishmash result is nobody gives a shit and does whatever. I know, I drive by their wreckage on a regular basis here in NoVA.
(No go is about right...)
Everything about MD and DC drivers is true. They really do suck, and I love dealing with them on an almost daily basis. My work commute:

Move closer, esh. 8 hours round trip is a job itself. Unless it's just the highlighted. Still shitty.
My old commute to EA was about 60-90 minutes each way. Damn bridge was only two lanes and you had 8 lanes of toll booth collections compressing to that small amount. Once they widened the bridge, it became about a 45 minute commute. Worst day though was when a gas tanker overturned on 101 spilling gas over all 8 lanes between both directions prompting a full shut down. I left for work that morning at 645 and got in around 11am. And I was one of the early ones.
Ya know, I-70 is really weird, in that if you go to I-695 from I-70 at rush hour and traffic is REALLY bad, then its *sometimes* faster to skip 695, drive to the park-and-ride at the dead end, then double back and get onto I-695 using that ramp. Yes, both ramps go to the same spot .. but there are days where the retarded route is faster.
aaaah drunk people.
Cops: Pa. guard shot finger trying to remove ring
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...RTAINMENT.htmlPITTSBURGH (AP) -- A federal prison guard has been charged with shooting his own finger in a drunken attempt to remove his wedding ring during an argument with his wife at their northwestern Pennsylvania home, police said.
A criminal complaint said Bradford police were called just before 9 p.m. March 2 and were met by Alfredo Malespini III, 31, who told officers he was "trying to get rid of his wedding ring" and decided to "shoot it off." The Bradford Era first reported the shooting on Friday.
The gunshot badly mangled Malespini's finger, but didn't remove the ring, police said.
At the time of the shooting in Bradford, which is near the New York border about 130 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, Malespini was employed as a lieutenant at the Federal Correctional Institution-McKean, a medium security prison a few miles away.
Vicky Moser, the executive assistant at the prison, said she could confirm only that Malespini remains employed as a lieutenant at the prison, but could not comment as to whether he's been suspended or has otherwise taken leave.
Bradford police Lt. Steve Caskey told The Associated Press that he wasn't sure of Malespini's employment status, but "as far as we know, he is still seeking treatment in Erie."
Malespini was taken to UPMC Hamot hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wound and also for mental or emotional issues, Caskey said.
Police have been called to the Malespini residence a "couple times" previously for domestic disputes, but Caskey said he doesn't believe Malespini had ever been charged with a crime before.
On the day of the shooting, Malespini "had been drinking quite heavily throughout the day and he and his wife had been arguing throughout the day about an affair he had had several months ago," Caskey said.
Malespini has been charged with disorderly conduct and was cited for firing a weapon within city limits but also is charged with reckless endangerment, a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison. That's because the bullet Malespini fired could have endangered someone else, Caskey said.
"He was out on his back deck, he was outside...the bullet could have been fired in a direct line with neighbor's houses," Caskey said.
Nobody else was hurt in the shooting, and Malespini was neither armed nor confrontational when police arrived.
"The weapon was still there, but it was not in his possession. It was lying on the kitchen counter," Caskey said. "There were never any threats to any officers."
Online court records don't list an attorney for Malespini, who is scheduled to be arraigned March 26.
Huh? Bradford is like 2 hours away from Pittsburgh up by the New York border. Either way what a fucking idiot.
