I think the point of the holocaust was to kill people, not to intimidate them. It can't really be terrorism if your goal is to kill everyone, leaving no one left to be terrorized.
I'm not saying it wasn't a big deal. Just that in the grand scheme of things, it's not nearly as big of a deal as people make it out to be. 3k people every decade comes out to less than 1 death per day. That's...not a lot.I also don't think "trivializing terrorism" is the correct way to go either. Oh, 3,000 people died due to terrorist attacks in a single day? NBD.
I can see where people are coming from about moving on and whatnot and not letting the idea of 9/11 get to you (because it's true, the terrorists win in this case).
For me, 9/11 didn't directly affect me because no one I knew (or knew but didn't know them well enough to become unstable after their death) was killed in the attack. Indirectly it influenced me because at the time I was getting ready to go out in to the real world and it was "Holy shit, this just happened. I should try to help do something about this." and therefore I joined the Army. When I was younger, I wasn't aware of the world like I am now. I didn't understand that in some countries, stuff like that happened often and I didn't know what it was like to live in fear. So I did something about it and fought back when I became of age to do so. Yeah call it the "perfect world" syndrome where everyone ignores it till it affects them, then they do something about it. Couldn't really do anything about it before as a kid, though so had to wait till I could.
For me it's not a deep seeded pain I feel of loss of a loved one or friends like some of the families affected by the attack. It's more of an annoying buzz that someone's making fun of or trivializing a pivotal portion of my life where I went out in to the real world and fought to make a difference. I don't feel hatred towards the two women, just a bit annoyed and can't help but think it's a bit "much". Just because you can do it, does it mean you HAVE to? Not sure if that made sense but that's how I feel.
Then again, the nerd in me thinks "Wow that's pretty original" and laugh because it is a pretty cool costume.
Here's one from me and sheps hometown: http://www.roanoke.com/news/2354234-...ound-dead.html
Woman meets man online, marrys him 3 weeks later, turns out to be pedophile I hear (just rumor), kills the woman, stabs the daughter in law, and just leaves her infant there. Used to work with this woman actually, she worked out in the warehouse of the company I did tech support for.
Damn
All this talk about the Nazis and no one's brought up the fact that people have been dressing as Hitler for Halloween for YEARS now, and it's accepted by the general public, I don't see anyone raising a stink about that. Not only that but the fact that there's comedy skits, movies etc all about the Nazis made to make people laugh. I don't get how this is acceptable, and yet those costumes are "tasteless"
Thor and Loki Share a Loving Embrace in Poster Accidentally Displayed in Shanghai Theater (Photo)
A Chinese theater accidentally used a fake, homoerotic photoshopped poster to promote “Thor: The Dark World”
Thor and Loki are brothers in the Marvel universe — well, half-brothers, of different species — but according to a movie poster reportedly displayed in a Shanghai theater, they may get dramatically closer in “Thor: The Dark World.”
While the poster (right) for the superhero flick is supposed to feature Thor putting a protective arm in front of his earthling love interest, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), a Chinese theater accidentally used a photoshopped fan-made version — which suggests a very different story.

“Avengers” villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) swoons in Thor’s arms, while his buff brother protects him from the dangers of “The Dark World.”
Somewhere out there, Joss Whedon is laughing really hard right now.
lol, it does look like it could be the actual poster
Russian artist nails his penis to the Red Square in protest of police brutaility
Register to see the NSFW contenthttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24896784A performance artist has been detained in Moscow after stripping naked and nailing his scrotum to the cobblestones of Red Square in a protest.
Pyotr Pavlensky, 29, reportedly sat for an hour and a half on the square on Sunday afternoon, with a nail driven through his genitals into the ground.
The St Petersburg performer had faced a custodial sentence of 15 days but was freed on Monday.
Pavlensky said his "Fixation" act was a metaphor for apathy in Russia.
Critics of Russian President Vladimir Putin accuse him of presiding over a crackdown on dissent since his re-election in March last year.
Timing his act to coincide with Police Day, Pavlensky said in a statement: "When the authorities turn the country into one big prison, openly robbing the populace and channelling funds to increase and enrich the police and other security agencies, society accepts arbitrariness and, having forgotten its advantage in numbers, brings the triumph of the police state closer through its inaction."
His graphic act outside the Lenin Mausoleum was recorded on video which was put online before being blocked by leading social media, the Russian news website grani.ru reports. Clips continued to appear on Monday.
A judge who examined his case on Monday ruled that the documents had been incorrectly presented, Russian news website TV Rain reports. It was not immediately clear if he would be re-arrested.
Pavlensky previously attracted attention by sewing his lips together in July of last year and demonstrating outside St Petersburg's Kazan Cathedral in support of the imprisoned Pussy Riot protesters. In May of this year, he wrapped his naked body in a "cocoon" of barbed wire outside the city's parliament.
Fellow figures from the Russian arts world praised his Red Square act in comments on grani.ru, with one calling it a "powerful gesture of absolute despair" and another, "a manifesto of powerlessness".
Others asked how security forces patrolling Red Square could have allowed Pavlensky to get away with his performance so long. One blogger quipped on Twitter: "The artist Pavlensky nails micro-bloggers to his testicles".
Artist is a new word for fucking psycho? Got it.
At what point did that sound like a good idea to him. Was he sitting there eating borscht and all of a sudden it came to him? I KNOW I'LL NAIL MY PENOR TO THE GROUND IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM!!
I'm really lost how a nail thru the scrotum is a metaphor for apathy.
because clearly he gave no fucks
