I don't understand how it works, so maybe you could explain it to me. What does his previous record have to do with this particular crime?
So if I get out of prison for manslaughter after 25 years, could I get 5 for jaywalking? Or is there some sort of arbitrary line in the sand? I always wondered how judges arrived at sentences.
There's also max sentences so 5 years for jay walking isn't going to happen.
Is there any mention if this was prosecuted locally or in federal court? I'm almost 100% sure this is a major FAA violation and is a federal crime across the board.

Just wow.MINNEAPOLIS (CBSNews.com) - A security camera outside a restaurant in Minneapolis captured a man punching an 8-year-old boy to the ground so that he could steal his iPad.
Aaron Stillday, 32, was arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated robbery in the incident. Police caught him after a Good Samaritan chased him down, reports CBS Minnesota.
"Poor kid," Mohammad Armeli, head chef at the restaurant who chased the robber for more than a half-mile as he called 911, told the station. "I can't believe it, the blood was all over his face. Could have broken his nose."
"This is the scum of the earth," Armeli continued. "You cannot hit a child like that. Don't hit him for his iPad, or for anything."
The iPad was shattered in the commission of the robbery - but the 8-year-old boy's sister told the station the family took the shattered iPad to an Apple store, along with video of the incident, and they were given new one.
Like stealing candy from a baby
Dude the video is just wrong. He just cracked the kid. No lead up. Just grabbed the iPad with one hand as he popped the kid with the other. Absolutely disgusting.
Yeah it really is disturbing. Some people are fucking shit nowadays.
at least it had a happy ending with the shitbag getting arrested and the local apple store replacing the broken ipad.
Was anyone else kind of irritated that the aunt didn't even look back to make sure the kid was following her? Not saying it would have stopped what happened, but ffs, pay attention to your nephew.
That did bother me, but I more sick over how the kid kind of lay there on the ground after being hit.
What do you expect? It takes all her concentration to waddle across the sidewalk, let alone watch over the spawn of her sibling. Everything about the video is just sad...
wheres the vid? yt?
I googled the dude's name and it popped right up.
On the link I posted.
