tl;drOkCupid protests Firefox over CEO's anti-same-sex marriage donation
(CNN) -- Dating site OkCupid is calling for its members to ditch Firefox and use another browser to search for love. The company is protesting Mozilla's new CEO, Brendan Eich, who supported an anti-same-sex marriage campaign. Firefox is owned by Mozilla.
When OkCupid members navigate to the site on a Firefox browser, they are met with a message encouraging them to use an alternative browser to access the site, including Google Chrome, Opera, Safari and the amusingly misspelled Internet Exploder.
"Those who seek to deny love and instead enforce misery, shame and frustration are our enemies, and we wish them nothing but failure," reads the message.
The page points out that 8% of the matches made on OkCupid are between same-sex couples.
Last week, Mozilla promoted Eich, a longtime employee who was previously the company's chief technology officer, to the position of CEO. The move prompted renewed outrage by third-party developers and employees. Eich donated $1,000 to support Propostion 8 in 2008. The California ballot initiative sought to ban same-sex marriage in the state. The donation was made public in 2012 but Eich held onto his job.
After the announcement of Eich's promotion, app development company Rarebit announced it had pulled its apps from Firefox. "As a married gay couple who are co-founders of this venture, we have chosen to boycott all Mozilla projects," said founder Hampton Catlin in an open letter to the company.
Various Mozilla employees have also spoken up about the promotion, taking to Twitter to openly share their disappointment with Eich's politics. Some have come together and publicly called for Eich to step down.
Eich posted a blog on his personal site last week addressing the backlash. He outlined his plan to support LGBT-friendly policies at Mozilla and expressed "sorrow at having caused pain."
"I am committed to ensuring that Mozilla is, and will remain, a place that includes and supports everyone," he said. The apology hasn't satisfied everyone, and the backlash continues to grow one week later. OkCupid is one of the most high-profile companies to take a stand against Eich's appointment. The letter on the OkCupid home page is a bold move. However, it is not actually blocking Firefox users from using OkCupid. At the bottom of the page is a link to continue on to the site.
"Mozilla supports equality for all, including marriage equality for LGBT couples. No matter who you are or who you love, everyone deserves the same rights and to be treated equally," said a Mozilla spokesperson in a statement. "OK cupid never reached out to us to let us know of their intentions, nor to confirm facts."
Mozilla's CEO donated $1,000 support Prop 8 in California and OkCupid (who is Pro Gay marriage) put up html code on their front page detect Firefox users and suggest that they use another browser while accessing their site because the CEO of Mozilla's views on gay marriage doesn't match their own.
I read Mozilla gives great benefits to LGBT couples when it doesn't have to. This is fucktarded if true. Also, sorry gays, NSA > gay marriage

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The body of a 96-year-old woman found in the parking lot of an apartment complex was mistaken as an April Fools' prank and put in a dumpster outside an apartment complex, according to St. Petersburg Police.
Detectives say a Peterborough Apartment clerk, 61-year-old Ronald Benjamin, saw the body at the 4th Avenue North southside parking lot during a smoke break around 4:30 a.m. Thinking it was a prank, he did not alert anyone and returned to his desk duties.
Then, around 6:30 a.m., another employee arrived to work at the apartment complex, saw the woman's body and told the same clerk, who informed her it was just a prank.
After that, the clerk took the body -- still thinking it was a mannequin -- and put the body in a city dumpster with the help of a couple delivering newspapers. It wasn't until about 8 a.m. when an apartment maintenance worker arrived and looked into the dumpster that the distinction was made that it was, in fact, not a mannequin.
Detectives say they've learned that the woman had been depressed and suicidal. A suicide note was also discovered in her apartment.
They believe the clerk and another man who assisted in moving the victim possibly mistook the victim for a mannequin because rigor mortis had set in.
A friend of the woman, Nancy Sanborn, described the victim as "absolutely delightful." She loved reading, and was heavily involved in the complex's library. She was well-liked in the building, and had lived there many years.
10 News has chosen to withhold the victim's name until next of kin is notified.
At the apartment, a makeshift memorial of flowers, cards and mementos piled up near the spot where the victim landed.
Detectives say the desk clerk earnestly believed the victim's body was a mannequin and that blood found at the scene was faked as part of an elaborate practical April Fools' joke.
No charges have been filed. Benjamin was unavailable for comment.
Management on-site say they're all "saddened" by the tragic event, and will have no comment until Friday morning.
Excuse me, I'm just wiping tears off my face right now ...

Knowing that he wouldn't be there for her wedding, a terminally ill father walked his 11-year-old down the 'aisle' years early with the pastor sweetly pronouncing them 'daddy and daughter'.
Jim Zetz, 62, from Murrieta, California, who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer, proudly held his daughter, Josie's hand during their backyard ceremony on March 14 and placed a sparkling ring on her index finger.
The tear-jerking event was staged by photographer Lindsey Villatoro, who heard about the Zetz's heartbreaking story and decided to do something out of the ordinary for their final days together.
In just 72 hours she went about getting financial contributions from the local community, and secured a wedding cake, dress, catering, flowers and even hair and make-up free-of-charge.
'One day [you] wake up and realize you’re given the opportunity to change someone’s life for the better.
'You get an idea, don’t think twice and run with it,' Mr Villatoro wrote in a description of a video slideshow she made from the event and uploaded to Vimeo.
Ms Villatoro first met Josie and her father when she photographed them, along with Josie’s mother, Grace, for one of their final family portraits together.
Mrs Zetz mentioned that Josie was upset about the fact her father would not be there for 'memories down the line' so Ms Villatoro decided to try and help out.
She suggested holding a 'mini-wedding' for Josie to coincide with her 11th birthday and got the go-head.
Friends and family rallied around in support, as did complete strangers.
For her 'wedding' Josie wore an elegant long, lacy white dress and carried a pink-and-white bouquet. Soft waves were put in her long brown hair and beauticians applied natural make-up.
Her father meanwhile opted for a smart camel-colored three-piece suit, topped with a flat cap.
'Your dad may not get to see you get married, but he is here to walk you down the aisle today,' said Gary Galbraith, the pastor, according to The Press Enterprise.
After their ceremony Josie and Mr Zetz shared a quiet moment together, before returning to join the 'reception'.
In one of Ms Villatoro’s photographs Josie is seen being kissed on her cheeks by her mother and father with tears streaming down. But along with tears there were also lots of smiles, as the pictures show.
'Down the road, this will mean a lot to [Josie],' Mr Zetz said. 'She will always remember it.'
Mr Villatoro said that it was an 'honor' helping the Zetzes.
'Josie, you will forever have a video of you and your dad walking you down the aisle to play at your wedding in years to come, as if he was physically there,' she wrote.
I got to 'aisle'
This is a big case in our city right now. 8 year old was "abducted" by a janitor that worked at the homeless shelter the mother and step-father lived at with the little girl. Almost a month later, police found the body of the janitor who appeared to have committed suicide, however they never found the little girl.

Now the mother and step-father are under suspicion for the abduction because they posted pictures of themselves on Facebook holding wads of cash. I didn't really buy in to the tinfoil theory that the little girl was sold to slave traffickers (the people behind this theory are definitely wtf crazy), however, with the new evidence, it's definitely plausible that it happened as we had over 12,000 people looking for this little girl since this case started.

Video: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=456_1396780871Unbelievable security camera footage shows a crazed topless woman in just her panties tearing apart a Florida McDonald's.
The video shows the nude, extremely agitated lady start her tirade by screaming into the St. Petersburg restaurant's kitchen before slamming her head onto the counter in a maniacal rage.
After proceeding to furiously dump the contents of a refrigerator onto the floor as employees stare in disbelief, she sticks her head under the soft serve dispenser and helps herself to a face full of ice cream.
