If you get out of your car at a red light to come to my window, I'm going to assume the worst. Grabbing an arm thrust into my window to protect my family from a possible weapon and speeding off is reasonable. He should have called the police immediately and explained himself/gone to police station. I would not just expect a cordial chat at a red light though. No.

Why not keep your window rolled up and your door locked? Or does that make too much sense?

I roll down my windows all the time. Ain't nobody ruining my cruise. If someone shoved their arm into my car, it would either be the "grabbing their arm and speeding off" tactic mentioned above, or the "open the door rapidly and slam it into them and then drive off" tactic. One of those. Unless they punched me first and knocked me out, for obvious reasons.

If there are no weapons involved, no doubt.

If there are weapons involved, that could make it worse. With a gun in particular, I'd rather have the window down and door unlocked for a potential attempt to door-slam and/or grab the gun, as opposed to just seeing a barrel round the corner and hoping I can hit the gas and dodge/accelerate fast enough.

Also, if you've already got them down, rolling up the windows is not such a useful option in today's "no manual crank" age. My window is slow as fuck.

Was still a rookie back when this happened. Stopped at a red light (off duty in POV) and one of the locals ran up to my car and started to clean my windows with a squeegee and some dirty ass Potomac River water. Didn't even ask me. Had the windows down so I flipped shit on him and he went up to me and stuck his hand in my car demanding payment. When I told him to fuck off, he grabbed my steering wheel and refused to let go till I gave him money.

    Couple of things I learned:

    1) Not acceptable to pull your gun out and stick it in the guys face and hold him there till backup arrives.

    2) Not acceptable to hold the guy there and should have let him go and called it in.

    3) Draw as much attention to yourself as you can. Yell, honk your horn, whatever. Best way to spook a would-be robber or car-jacker? Hit the alarm button on your keys or hit the horn and hold it. Usually will spook them enough to drive away.

    4) Never put your car in park or confront someone outside the car. Roll the window up and call the cops/lock the door. It's harder than it seems to break a car window and if you draw attention to yourself, you'll likely have the cops rolling to assist you when people see somethings up. Always turn your car off and pull the keys when you exit a vehicle.

    5) Road rage incidents can be reported anonymously or by e-mail and NHTSA tracks incidents by region. The local jurisdiction can compare notes on the database and issue citations by mail for repeat offenders. Multiple counts of excessive speeding, reckless driving, etc. on the same plate can build enough of a case to issue at least a warning to the driver, if not at least a Civil Offense citation. Of course for it to be criminal, the driver has to be caught by an officer, but it'll just be a matter of time before a BOLO is put out for a reckless driver and he gets picked up by State or County.

A jilted teen killed a 16-year-old girl in a Connecticut high school on Friday after she refused to go to prom with him, friends and witnesses said.
The violence erupted after Chris Plaskon, also 16, shoved Maren Sanchez, down the stairs and tried to choke her inside Jonathan Law High School in Milford about 7:15 a.m., friends told the Daily News.

The boy - using a kitchen knife he brought from home - then stabbed Sanchez in the neck, witnesses and cops said.

How long until we find out that he repeatedly expressed psychotic behavior that went unchecked by parents/counselors/staff?

That's utterly fantastic. Now we just need to find whatever hole Lucas buried all the copies of The Star Wars Christmas Special in.

Yeah, the Atari E.T. game has been the bane of many a prom.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth reading this one.

Family of teenager killed in an accident is being sued by the driver who killed him.

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/04...for-1-million/

The family of a teenage bicyclist who died after being hit from behind by an SUV is now being sued for more than $1 million by the woman who was behind the wheel.

Sharlene Simon claims in court papers the accident caused her “great pain and suffering” and accuses her victim Brandon Majewski 17, and his two friends of negligence, calling them “incompetent bicyclists,” the Toronto Sun reported Friday.

The lawsuit drew an angry response from Brandon's family. “I feel like someone kicked me in the stomach -- I’m over the edge,” his father, Derek Majewski, told the Sun. “Sometimes, it makes my blood boil.”
“Sometimes, it makes my blood boil.”- Derek Majewski
The dad's attorney Brian Cameron told the Sun that in all his years as a lawyer, he had never seen anyone ever sue a child that they killed. “It’s beyond the pale,” he said. He is representing the elder Majewski in a seperate lawsuit that seeks $900,000 in damages from Simon.

The accident happened early in the morning of Oct. 28, 2012, on a dark, rural road in Innisfil, about 55 miles north of Toronto. Brandon’s two friends were both 16. One was seriously injured; the other escaped injury. They are also defendants in Simon’s lawsuit, as is the county where the accident occurred.

Simon, a 42-year-old mother of three, said she was going about 55 mph in her KIA Sorrento when she hit the boys -- about 5 mph more than the speed limit, the Ottawa Citizen said. No criminal charges were ever filed against her.

“It’s a tragedy what happened to the boys, but it’s also a tragedy that’s happened to (Simon),” her lawyer Michael Ellis told the Toronto Star. “I understand their grief and I understand what they must be going through is awful, but my client is also living with this nightmare every day.”
