A NURSE was arrested for killing as many as 38 patients because she found them or their relatives annoying, police said.
Wonder how many other nurses do this.

Another one of Poggiali’s colleagues said the accused nurse was once reported for giving powerful laxatives to patients at the end of her shift to make work tougher for nurses working after her.
Yeah this person doesn't deserve to exist in society.

Employee at a theatre rings up cheap hot dog and candy, then takes a more expensive version, which came to about 1 euro more. Gets fired for theft, and successfully sues his former employer.

Not in linked article, but I guess his excuse was that he was never shown in the employee handbook that that wasn't allowed. Guess you have to tell people that stealing is wrong now.

I would feel bad for the theater if prices weren't so fucking outrageous for everything. It's not like the theater wasn't making a huge profit on everything he bought, even at the discounted rate.

The fact they are allowed to ring through their own items is an open invitation for your employees to cut corners. The fact that this theatre company actually investigated this and canned him over one instance of this is stupid. The court order is right, one time in three years is a possible accident (granted it most likely wasnt), and they should have written him up.

Not specifically at you, but it really bothers me to hear this after working at a theatre for 10+ years. We always seem to bear the brunt about high prices. And yet it seems other events always get a pass. Do people regularly comment on how overpriced concessions and beer are at a sporting event? A theme park? Maybe they do, but all I ever see is how to sneak food into the movies due to their prices, but never to any other venue with the same rates.

The difference is other venues have straight invasive procedures to prevent anyone sneaking in their own food and drink. Me, I have never (willingly) bought theater garbage snacks and have had the luxury growing-up with friends who taught me the art of not giving a fuck about these theaters who treat their employees like shit. Even to this day, I'll sneak giant containers of snacks in theaters. My friend brought a whole damn bucket of chicken once after being fed-up from instances of racial profiling in the past lol

Been to some indy theater in Clearwater a few times, never even thought about sneaking anything in there, though.

You're joking, right? A product made specifically to circumvent the no outside food/drink rules at sporting events. I've also never seen anybody tailgate at a movie theater before (I never go on premiere nights, so it may happen then with movies with very large anticipations), and that very actively gets around the prices at a sporting event by eating and getting drunk immediately beforehand. As for theme parks, unlike a movie which is only 1.5 for a short movie and 3 hours for a long one, you're going to be at a theme park for at least 4-6 hours. It's a completely different experience with the only commonality being that the customer is a captive audience. That being said, people still do bitch and moan, and I think your 10+ years in the theater business has you a bit jaded.

edit: Echoing the previous comments, too. There are actually a few retro theaters that I frequent with some friends with some regularity, and their prices aren't inflated, irrc. For example , craft beer is sold at the normal, restaurant inflated, price of $4-5 a 12oz. This is compared to $8-$10 for the same thing at a hockey game

I think what annoys me about pricing at sports events is, in particular to Saint Louis where I went to see most of my games... There is a little stand there for "Hardees", a fast food place. Why is a small combo at the Baseball game like 10$ when i can just drive down the street to Hardees and get the same combo for like 5? I can see if it was just off brand food vendors, but an actual fast food chain inside the baseball stadium selling prices on their food 1.5x/2x the value of their food at their stores makes no sense to me.

Bu yah... eh... I don't go to sports events anymore.

Many sporting events allow you to bring food and drinks in. I carry a liter bottle of soda and some snacks in every time I go to Dodgers stadium.

(and a flask in my waistband)

That fast food chain pays a fuckton of rent to be inside the venue, hence the marked up prices.

No excuse for the cinema there though.

We don't ever have a problem bringing food into amusement parks. We went to Universal on Christmas last year and we brought PBJs in our backpack. A few months later, we went to Disney and did the same thing. They know you're still going to spend money somewhere, in our case, usually on water (and sometimes beer). The only time I've seen them check bags and drinks at an amusement park was at the entrance to Halloween Horror Nights, and they don't let you bring in outside drinks to that.
