Uhhh yes? I've never once been to a sporting event, or amusement park without at least one person i was with complaining about prices. You hear about it more with movie theaters because people go to see movies more often.

All of the above and there's absolutely ZERO reason for $.05 worth of popcorn kernels + "butter" and a medium soda to cost $10.75 or more. Mark-up is fine, but price gouging is not. I can see charging $3.00 as being a reasonable price for that set of goods/service. The concession prices in most theaters is just insane though. If you want people to stop bringing in outside goods, then drop the prices of yours.

I totally bring food into Disney, but tend to use my money elsewhere. I know, I know they would make more money if I bought food AND merchandize. But I probably wouldn't buy the merchandizing if I had to pay for the food.

Sometimes we also bring in a lunch then eat at one of the fancy places for dinner.

Honestly, forget spending any money inside Disney.
I remember when you could get into the park for 25 bucks. Now it's nearly a hundred. The interior shops can go fuck themselves with a cactus.

Yeah in the 90's if you were a Southern California resident (proof via zip code on Drivers License) Disneyland in Anaheim was $22. Currently a one day is $96 and for a child 2-9 its $90. Hell, they recently made it worse when the annual passes went up by 50% which pissed a lot of people off. Supposedly the reasoning was that repeat visitors that were passholders were less likely to buy merchandise compared to out of town tourist there for a few days so they were losing money. Regardless though it is still expensive even with the 15% discount you get as a passholder (Premium) food is overpriced and you are better off sneaking food in if you can.

I was looking at annual passes to Disney world, and compared to passes you can get elsewhere you'd have to go like 6-8 times to get your moneys worth.

Tldr; only go to each Disney park once every decade cause it's just Cray lol

The real answer is have friends in the military and get them to buy tickets during military appreciation events.

It's 3 day/4 day tickets for Land/World respectively, and usually come out to around $43 a day.

    We've already been like 12+.

And ya I think they raised the prices because annual passholders don't buy anything. Since I am a passholder I feel it's my obligation to get shit.

Not going to lie, I suck on Disney's peen so hard. I don't want to see it crash and burn even if they are sucking my wallet from my purse. (Which is a disney D&B....)

Yea, the Premium for Anaheim used to be about $450/year. No blackout dates, access to both parks (Disneyland and Cali Adventure), free parking, and 15% off merch and food. Basically broke down to less than $40/month and it paid for itself after 5 trips (parking was about $15 at the time and 1 day was $89). Now that same pass is $699. If you don't mind giving up a Sat/Sun, you can always volunteer for the Disney Marathons that they hold at the park throughout the year as they give you a free one day park hopper pass for completing your volunteer shift. I got 2 free passes this year from doing it.

Disney? Crash and burn? Are you actually worried about that? For real life?

    For the parks.

Towards the end of the Eisner era it was in trouble. Mad trouble. I actually believe a lot of the price rising isn't money gauging as much as we want to think it is.

Shit is like a million dollars to run the park for one day alone.

Plus maybe if they get enough profit they'll finally open up a waterpark here.

No I have no idea where they would fit it. A girl can dream.

I'm not going to lie...Disney likes to make Premium Pass holders feel special with all of their invite only events that they hold specifically for them. Two years ago they closed the park down at 10pm for pass holders RSVP'd and kicked the general public out for the 25th (or 20th??) Anniversary of Fantasmic. All of the rides were open until 1am and there was free food at some places. The last event I went to was the special Christmas Holiday reading with special guest Dick Van Dyke...so yeah there are definite perks to being a pass holder lol.

Honestly, when compared to some other places, Disney isn't that much more expensive. Was looking at taking the wife to Great America for a day, and even with it being shortened hours, would have been about 80 bucks for the tickets, and if we wanted fast pass access to the lines, would have been I think about another 70ish for the tickets. Food while expensive, they actually give you pretty decent portions. One trip the wife and I each got a kids meal nuggets and was stuffed with that. We are letting our premium passes lapse this year since we are saving to fly to disneyworld sometime in 2016 since she used to live in florida, and my only trip there I came down with the flu the night we arrived and missed half the trip dying in the hotel room.

Also as expensive as the merch is, what place is willing to replace it for you if it breaks quickly and you email them a copy of the receipt? They rape you up the ass in prices, but at least they make you feel good about it afterwards.

Knott's is pmuch the only affordable place left, and that's still $40.

Yeah Knotts and Six Flags are cheaper, but both tend to be over-run with teens (popular hangout spot I guess) due to the cheap price for the annual pass ($75 for Six Flags)

I do feel for what you get it is still worth it.

It's been great having the pass with the little kids. They can only do so much. It's funny to go from running from ride to ride as an adult, now it's get the two kids out of the stroller, strap baby to chest. Go on ride. Put both kids back in stroller, give a snack, take them to the potty/diaper change, get them out of the stroller. Rinse repeat.

It feels like we don't get a lot done, but the kids love it and I don't feel super stressed to squeeze everything into one day.

We can do the tiki room like 5 times in a row and it's no big deal because we can just do something else another day.

On the plus side SeaWorld is super cheap right now, teachers get in free and Florida residents get it for 50.
