Hint: it wasn't about sexual harassment. It was about her using sex to advance her career beyond her capability/at the expense of others, and them being upset by it. Her *BOSSES*, giving her those favors in exchange for sex (unless, y'know, she sexed them up, and then demanded favors or she'd go to their wives), is sexual harassment. Wop wanting to throw darts at her for her getting promoted beyond her work-pace merit is not. Any more than wanting to throw darts at a picture of anyone who is promoted for nepotism spawned in any other way is.

I'm a little confused by calling it sexual harassment as well? Nothing was sexual about it? It was harassment, yes, and wop acted like an asshole dickbag and deserved the lulz at his expense... and regardless of if his accusations were true that was still ridiculously stupid/inappropriate. But nothing about it involved "unwelcome sexual advances and/or requests for sexual favors."

Having just read through the other thread it was most definitely sexual harassment. He wanted "I'm the office slut" and other similar phrases added onto the photoshopped picture. At that point it crossed the line from plain harassment to sexual harassment.

There were a few incidents with him and LS banks. I don't think they all had a thread. Basically he ran his own LSes for a while and when he got bored he'd buy some shit he wanted and RMT the rest. In fairness, I think a few of the members actually got a cut of the money, but not all of them. His LSes were very active and got a good number of the pops at all hours.

If you wouldn't be pissed off if he wanted the same thing done for, say, the CEO's son getting promoted because, well, he's the CEO's kid and not because he actually knows what he's doing-- and I suspect a lot of people would not have this level of righteous indignation if that were the case, even if Wop used the exact same terminology for everything else-- then I think that says a lot. From Wop's (unreliable) description, she used sex to engender nepotism.

That said, I do think it was still harassment, and it's definitely the kind of thing that if the boss catches you doing it, you're likely to get fired-- it's unprofessional as hell. I'm not really defending Wop, but just because he behaved like a jerkbag doesn't mean you throw things on him that he doesn't seem to be guilty of. Was Wop a liar? Seems likely. Was Wop unprofessional? Sure. Was Wop harassing her? Yup. Did he deserve to get fired? Probably-- though I strongly think if it had been a dude he did that to instead of a gal, he probably wouldn't have been. Which still speaks to why Wop should have been fired; it was extra dumb, because standing up for women is a pretty strong impulse, and from a business position it just makes sense to not even open that door. His judgment was incredibly poor. And yeah, as soon as he said "Lawsuit" he needed banned. All of that's true.

It just wasn't <i>sexual</i> harassment, and shouting that it was in order to stifle conversation is troubling to me.

Clearly people here have never worked hard only to see less talented or skilled people advance because reasons.

Whether it's sex, legacy, buddyism, or just hatred, blaming a person's ambition is silly. Willful taking advantage of someone with ambition who is stupid enough to be exploited to get ahead is the real issue.
