I read like 2 books a year nowadays, but when I was banging out 30-40 books/year at the library, I remember most of my books being sci-fi or biographical. HS and college failed me on good reads, as well.

you ever read a series where you kinda don't like the main character and the writing makes you roll your eyes every few chapters? cos that's what im reading now, except 2 books ago the main character went from i-kinda-don't-like-this-meat-head to this-guy-is-an-asshole.

at this point im only reading out of a bizarre mix of completionism and curiosity.

Guy beats his friend to death because he thought he was turning into a Zombie

A 23-year-old New Mexico man charged with the beating death of his friend blames the combination of simultaneously binge-ing on both booze and episodes of "The Walking Dead" on Netflix.

The suspect, Damon Perry, told law enforcement he was drinking large amounts of alcohol with his friend, 23-year-old Christopher Paquin, when Paquin began "to change into a zombie."

"Perry alleges the victim was attempting to bite him, so he reacted by brutally beating the victim," the police statement reads. "Evidence of the scene showed the beating was not only carried out by Perry's hands and feet, but also by several different items in the home, including (but not limited to) edged weapons, an electric guitar and a microwave oven. Perry attributes his actions to his binge watching 'The Walking Dead' on Netflix."

Officers were called to the scene at an apartment complex in the town of Grants last Thursday, where Perry had reportedly been threatening residents with a knife. When police arrived, they found maintenance workers restraining Perry and Paquin's beaten body in one of the apartments.

it made me realize the show was just gonna be the writers thinking "What kind of awful shit can our characters do to other people this episode?" over and over. With zombies occasionally, which I never found particularly compelling anyway. Undead just aint my thing.

South Carolina school video: Officer-pupil clash investigated

The footage posted online on Monday was said to be filmed in a school in Columbia, South Carolina.

US media said the pupil had refused to leave the classroom when asked. The officer, a school monitor, was called.

In a video obtained by South Carolina's WIS network, the man is seen confronting the pupil, who is sitting at her desk. They then exchange words.

He then appears to restrain her around the neck, before quickly pulling her and her desk backwards to the floor.

The video shows him throwing the pupil a few metres across the classroom. She is then restrained.

When I first heard about this story, I was indifferent about the guy who decided to pop this drone out of his backyard, but after hearing the ruling and how the evidence was ignored for justice 'Merica-style, I say it's just another case of some redneck who wanted to shoot shit like the reckless motherfucker that he is.

This was stupid because the guys story was proved false by the gps and flight data on the drone.

Not to mention this higher profile case among others was the leading cause for national registration through DOT. Property privacy and aerial wildfire suppression trumps whatever non-existent rights a drone operator has.
