I hate the stories about kids, that shit fucks me up every time. I like this thread but that shit just churns my stomach. We should have an "awful things people do to kids" thread or something that I can ignore entirely.

I imagine most people with facebook have seen this as it has gone crazy viral, but it's worth a share if anyone missed it. Woman posted her dog with duct tape around its mouth. The internet flips, and tons of police departments are on the hunt for the woman. Despite the animal abuse there are two glorious things about this situation. The amount of info they got from the woman's son:

And reading the shit show on her fb page from her "friends":

Why I post pictures of my duct tape muzzled dogs on Myspace. Twitter is still my go to for donger selfies though.
He just didn't have it in him to personally crackdown on his little Snow White :\College student, 19, arrested after police find 'cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, meth and packaging materials in her apartment' is revealed as daughter of top Texas Drug enforcement agent

I feel like this belongs here:
Well now I don't feel so bad admitting to treating myself this month and buying things like my house bill, my utility bill, my heating bill, my phone bill, my internet bill, my health insurance bill, my car insurance bill, my netflix n chill bill, my grocery bill, and my gas so I can go to work to pay these bills bill.
Probably the best place for this. The Silent Hill Wiki is having a meltdown over circumcision.

I've been following and laughing to that bit since RW posted it in their news section. It spread out farther than SH before Wikia finally blocked him. Waiting to see if it picks up again on another account.
Here's some positive news in this thread for a change.

Fuck Salvation Army. What a waste of fucking money.
The Salvation Army is openly anti-gay and anti-trans. I get that they're a religious organization and they're free to practice their beliefs, but I hate to see that much money go to an organization that claims to help people but then turns away some of the people most in need of their help.
They also aren't kidding about the "army" part. Creepy fuckers.
"The Army’s immediate response to Hurricane Katrina included the mobilization of more than 178 canteen feeding units and 11 field kitchens which together have served more than 5.7 million hot meals, 8.3 million sandwiches, snacks and drinks. Its SATERN (Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network)[37] network of amateur ham-radio operators picked up where modern communications left off to help locate more than 25,000 survivors"
Yeah, screw them.
" The Salvation Army has a history of free rehabilitation from alcohol and drug abuse."
What jerks!
"In addition to community centers and disaster relief, the organization does work in refugee camps, especially among displaced people in Africa. "
Nuke them now.
It doesn't "claim" to help people: It *DOES* help people, millions of them around the world. I'm sorry that their political ideologies don't match up exactly to yours, but the Salvation Army does an enormous amount of good in the world, and around 90% of what they get goes directly to helping the poor and the abjectly impoverished around the world.
It also doesn't say it's wrong to /be/ gay; it says that /acting/ on that is wrong-- I see this as fundamentally no different than a Catholic Priest not being allowed to act on /whatever/ sexual urges they have. Christianity has, since its inception, taught controlling one's sexual urges and impulses, and not being defined by them, irrespective of orientation. They don't ask if you're gay before they help, they don't support orientation readjustment or whatever it's called, they just *help*, and my experience with charities has shown trans people get the same help as anyone else in the great bulk (though not all) of cases. Yes, there are folks who will turn people away for being trans, but that's not their policy, that's more a matter of individual people being jerkholes, and that's a lot less common amongst those serving the poor than you probably think.
Who they help, and who they allow in their organization as members, are two very, very, very different things.
The point is that there are plenty of superior causes and charities who don't get nearly as much help as this mega-evangelical church front. Your laundry list of being big enough to help big numbers also does not reflect their culture of arguably corrupt and disgusting treatment of both employees and the homeless.
Salvation Army in Australia was recently busted for a child sex abuse operation, so it's not just my own personal long history of interactions with them speaking (or the numerous friends and family members who also witness suspect shit). They run their charity as religious hustlers inside and out. Therefor: fuck Salvation Army.
Bum pretty much summed everything up, but any organization that gets tax breaks and such for being a charity organization, and openly turns away those who need help the most don't deserve anything. If I had to make a donation to a religious charity, i'd go with St. Vincent De Paul
Meh pretty much any big organization will have corruption... the difference is if you already don't like them it will just make you like them more and if you support them you will rush to their aid and accept any kind of denial. And every organization will have different believes than others as well doesn't really mean they don't do anything good
These low-income kids were given a gift for their parents and for themselves. But they could only keep one. http://wapo.st/22idKWQ
Apparently inspired by that sick fuck production that ran on CBS. #lolpoorpeople
I mean, it's clear he doesn't read a lot of anything
Wooosh.
