A 2 year old boy was attacked and dragged into the lagoon by an alligator last night at Disney World's Grand Floridian Resort. Search teams have been looking all night into the morning but things aren't looking good.

Unless they are looking inside alligators I would assume that yeah, things aren't looking good.

I will have to look around to see if I can find the article but when I read about this the article said witnesses saw the mother holding her boy over the railing to try to touch the alligator moments before he was attacked.

Either way it is tragic and shitty.

To update, the boy's body was recovered around 4:30pm, with Orange County Sherriffs indicating that they had to capture, euthanize, and dissect five alligators found in the lagoon before they recovered the body. So as it turns out they actually were looking inside alligators.

Logically sure. But emotionally having a body back is pretty huge for the family

That, and any alligator that is confirmed to have attacked a human must be euthanized. And unfortunately in this case, the only way to verify which one was the attacker was to check the stomach contents.

Well, another update to the update. The boy's body was found, and five alligators thus far have been euthanized, but it's now been clarified that the boy was NOT eaten and his body was recovered intact from the lake.

It's not like they're dolphins or pandas, it's fucking alligators. Any excuse to kill them is a good one. I've lived in Florida and Louisiana, if I could trade one toddler for 5 dead alligators, I would do it every goddamn day.

reptiles always get the shaft. alligators will only attack you if they're feeling threatened and/or hungry. otherwise they're pretty chill animals.

idk man I had one sneak up on when I was walking back to base in south Carolina. Wouldn't even know it was there since was around 3 am and no lights on except I happened to be watching cars as they passed. That said thing turned tail and jumped into the water when I charged it

I prefer gators to children tbh. And with parents not vaccinating, we are slowly approaching a time when both are equally dangerous to me.
