Next thing u'll tell me Tom Cruise is gay.
Next thing u'll tell me Tom Cruise is gay.
Another prophetic jewel from back in the day lol.
Kevin Spacey being gay was the first piece of Hollywood gossip I learned when I moved here. A production manager on the 2nd show I worked on moonlighted as a limo driver and had Spacey and a few other gentleman as passengers once.

His gayness was sort of an open secret.
A lot of actors will choose to not officiate it though as being a "gay actor" can have repercussions on one's career.
As far as I'm concerned, he came out of the closet in the baseball throwing scene in House of Cards.

Well House of Cards ending with season 6. Netflix was leaning towards ending the show, but the whole thing with Spacey just kind of put the nail in the coffin.

Apparently Spacey's father sexually abused Kevin and his older brother, oh and he was also a literal Hitler-loving Nazi.

More deflection? Who would've guessed
Boy grows up in a house of Hitler cosplay and sexual abuse. What could go wrong.
not surprising. it's pretty well-known that the abused often become the abusers. which is a terrible thing, because you can understand why they did what they did but that doesn't mean you can just let it fly. awful for everyone involved, and that's an understatement.
of course, there are plenty of people who are abused and don't become abusers themselves, or go through therapy to deal with that side of their lives. so it's definitely not an excuse. just, like I said, fucked-up all around.
I love that with all the horrible stories of sexual predation over the past month, I'm like "well at least Spacey took "no" for an answer I guess?"

Gotta keep it classy and consensual.
Spoiler: show
That was my reaction as well and then I felt bad. Two things bug me about this whole thing. 1) Kevin Spacey immediately apologized but it wasn't good enough? What were people expecting? 2) I may be wrong on this but it doesn't seem like his "coming out" was done to divert attention it was more because it is a man bringing up these accusations which kind of forces his hand in that matter.
Well with 1. It's not going to be good enough because he tried to have sex with a minor. Doesn't matter what he says. I mean, it's good that he recognizes he was wrong, but he still did it. Imagine an adult doing this to your kid. Would you be satisfied if they said they were sorry and drunk? Maybe not as mad but still mad. Reality is, most don't want to be harsh on him because he's an actor we like. If he was a regular Joe, we'd all be disgusted. Imagine BG's reaction if this was Trump.
As to 2. I completely agree. I've actually read in the past that he tried to keep his life as private as possible so people can separate him from his role, so I don't think he just did it to divert attention.
