John McAfee Plays Hide-and-Seek in Belize

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/02/bu...anted=all&_r=0

So it's been posted on BG already how the guy that created McAfee antivirus is on the run as a person of interest in his neighbor's shooting death. I didn't quote the article because 1.) is a seriously long read and 2.) There's not a ton of new information than what's been posted here before. Still, I'm linking the article because it's incredibly fascinating to see how whacked out this guy is. It's a great article and well worth the read if you have time to kill.

North Korea Says Its Archaeologists Discovered A 'Unicorn Lair'

Today, the Korean Central News Agency said that archaeologists from the History Institute of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea "reconfirmed" the "lair of a unicorn" that was ridden by King Tongmyong.

Via the Japan-based Korean News Agency, which distributes KCNA news, here's a bit more of the breaking development:

"The lair is located 200 meters from the Yongmyong Temple in Moran Hill in Pyongyang City. A rectangular rock carved with words "Unicorn Lair" stands in front of the lair. The carved words are believed to date back to the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392).

"Jo Hui Sung, director of the Institute, told KCNA:

"'Korea's history books deal with the unicorn, considered to be ridden by King Tongmyong, and its lair."

It's actually a Qilin instead of the typical western Unicorn, which I'm pretty sure most FFXI people will recognize as Kirin:
    http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy...e_2_(FFXI).png

or non-FFXI people will recognize from Kirin beer:

Not that it makes it anymore plausible... but it makes it far more eastern >.>

and off topic, but googling Kirin/Qilin gives some very... interesting results.

7,500 Online Shoppers Unknowingly Sold Their Souls

    Published April 15, 2010

A computer game retailer revealed that it legally owns the souls of thousands of online shoppers, thanks to a clause in the terms and conditions agreed to by online shoppers.

The retailer, British firm GameStation, added the "immortal soul clause" to the contract signed before making any online purchases earlier this month. It states that customers grant the company the right to claim their soul.

"By placing an order via this Web site on the first day of the fourth month of the year 2010 Anno Domini, you agree to grant Us a non transferable option to claim, for now and for ever more, your immortal soul. Should We wish to exercise this option, you agree to surrender your immortal soul, and any claim you may have on it, within 5 (five) working days of receiving written notification from gamesation.co.uk or one of its duly authorised minions."

GameStation's form also points out that "we reserve the right to serve such notice in 6 (six) foot high letters of fire, however we can accept no liability for any loss or damage caused by such an act. If you a) do not believe you have an immortal soul, b) have already given it to another party, or c) do not wish to grant Us such a license, please click the link below to nullify this sub-clause and proceed with your transaction."

The terms of service were updated on April Fool's Day as a gag, but the retailer did so to make a very real point: No one reads the online terms and conditions of shopping, and companies are free to insert whatever language they want into the documents.

While all shoppers during the test were given a simple tick box option to opt out, very few did this, which would have also rewarded them with a £5 voucher, according to news:lite. Due to the number of people who ticked the box, GameStation claims believes as many as 88 percent of people do not read the terms and conditions of a Web site before they make a purchase.

The company noted that it would not be enforcing the ownership rights, and planned to e-mail customers nullifying any claim on their soul.

The father of a child accused of illegally downloading music in Finland has paid a 300 euros (£243; $390) fine to a Finnish anti-piracy group.

He had refused to pay the original settlement of 600 euros and sign a non-disclosure agreement.

A police warrant was then issued to confiscate the laptop of the girl, who was aged nine at the time.

The anti-piracy group said it was acting "within the boundaries of Finnish legislation".

The girl had searched blocked torrent site The Pirate Bay for an album by Finnish popstar Chisu.

Her father claims they were unable to download the album and purchased it legitimately the following day.

The action was taken by the country's Copyright Information and Anti-Piracy Centre (CIAPC), known locally as TTVK, which contacted the father after it discovered his ISP account had connected with The Pirate Bay.

"We have now reached a settlement in the matter. The police investigation has stopped and the rights holders have been compensated. All parties involved are satisfied with the settlement," a spokesperson told the BBC.

"We agree that individual lawsuits against file-sharers are a slow and ineffective process. We can only act within the boundaries of current Finnish legislation which does not permit rights holders to tackle piracy in softer and more efficient ways."

The girl's father described the situation as "the pinnacle of absurdity" when speaking to website Torrentfreak.

"I can see artists are in a position, but this requires education and information, not resource-consuming lawsuits," he said.

Chisu herself suggested in a statement that her fans should listen to her music for free on Spotify.

"I hope that the matter will be resolved soon and sorry to my nine-year-old girls," she said.

According to its website, several national film and music groups are members of the CIAPC, including the Finnish Musicians' Union and the Finnish Film Distributors Association.

"A joint anti-piracy association benefits all parties involved by reducing costs, co-ordinating more efficient anti-piracy strategies and giving authorities an effective point of contact," CIAPC says online.

Re: Miss Piggy's Grocery Store Checkout Headlines

Saw the story on reddit the other day, there was a good write up on how bad it made the industry look and how this is actually a good thing cause now politicians are getting a little apprehensive with the lobbying because of all the bad pr there was around raiding a 9 year old girls room.

Dumb bitch robs a bank, brags about it on youtube and manages to get herself arrested.

    http://consumerist.com/2012/12/04/te...tches-youtube/

Here we were, under the impression that today’s tech-savvy generation of young people know all about the social media and the Interwebs. But then why would a 19-year-old allegedly rob a bank and then post a YouTube video bragging about it — wearing the same clothes she wore during the heist — and expect no one would see it? SMH, TTYL, ROFL, etc.
Perhaps she thought if she didn’t speak, she couldn’t be caught? In the video (titled “Chick bank robber,” subtle!) the Nebraska teen, 19, holds up handwritten signs talking about the alleged crime, a holdup at a bank in Waco on Nov. 28. She fans out quite a bit of cash to prove her story, reports the New York Daily News.
The video’s description is also quite telling: “I just stole a car and robbed a bank. Now I’m rich, I can pay off my college financial aid and tomorrow I’m going for a shopping spree.”
Police say she’s even wearing the exact same clothes in the video that she had on during the $6,000 heist, where she allegedly pointed a gun and handed tellers a note reading: “You are being robbed! NO ALARMS OR LOCKS OR PHONES or INK BAGS! I have a loaded gun. You have 2 minutes.”
During the bragging footage, she holds up signs like ”I told my mom today was the best day of my life… she just thinks I met a new boy,” and says the gun she had was fake. She accuses the government of taking her baby from her, saying the “system is a game.”
If it’s a game, you just lost by thinking no one looks at the Internet.
