If the GD voters lurk here a fair bit then it should be fine because then they know who the people they are voting for actually are and can make value judgments on them just fine.

How is someone who only/mostly posts in GD but reads spam all the time not able to determine whose posts they like the most?

I don't really think GD is some cohesive unit that can push voting 1 direction or the other outside of them voting for the person who posts most often in GD and they are more familiar with.

Granted, GD is more likely to have people who don't know wtf about spam and vote like idiots but to outlaw them altogether would be blocking the legitimate GD members who actually know wtf. (how do you determine the GD who do lurk and those who don't anyway?) It's like the whole 'rather let criminals go free than send an innocent man to jail' kind of thing
