Didn't a pope already prepare for this by saying that it is possible for life to exist elsewhere
Didn't a pope already prepare for this by saying that it is possible for life to exist elsewhere
looks like I was thinking this http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/843...-of-alien-life
Was that found in space or was it already on Earth?
Well this is exciting.
Shit's fixed. yw
Why would they bring this story first to Fox?
Very cool, too bad it is probably just normal earth bacteria fossilized in it.
Do they know if the meteorite came from a particular planet?
That's why it's good that they're having it analyzed by so many different experts. For what could possibly be the biggest discovery ever, we need to see if we can rule out possibilities like the one you suggested.
They won't try to.
Moderate religous people already believe their respective creation stories to be metaphorical, so new science doesn't really bother them.
If they can accept evolution and various other scientific facts that contradict the literal texts, they'll have no problem accepting life on earth as possibly originating elsewhere in the universe.
Fundies already dismiss scientific claims that don't agree to the letter with their sacred book, they'll just do that once more.
Remember, we're taking about people that don't suscribe to evolution and date the earth as 6000 years old; one more possible fact to portray as fabrication and sweep under the rug is no big deal.
So, neither group is particularly fazed by new scientific discoveries.
But they'll probably cause a ruckus anyway (at least the latter group), 'cause they feel like it.
Almost every Christian I know (including myself) already believe in live elsewhere in the universe, so this would really just be confirming something they already believe. So obviously, this wont make a difference.
