Fixing her physical problems won't automatically fix her emotional/mental problems. Korra has been getting mentally fucked with for 30 episodes. I would have been disappointed if taking out the metal fixed every issue with her ever.

Aang showing up wouldn't have made any sense either. I mean, your opinion is your opinion and thats fine, but I really don't get it lol.

Yeah, I also thought we were done with the PTSD angle and was glad for that, but now I'm afraid this is going to linger the rest of the show, and while that's certainly realistic, realism isn't something I value in my cartoon about magical martial arts.

I think ye're lumping together her 'PTSD' from the previous villains and what she experienced in the fight with Kuvira erroneously.

She is on the road to recovery, but I believe her inability to finish Kuvira came more from seeing herself in Kuvira rather than being haunted by the previous villains. I do believe she's let the hauntings of encounters with the villains go, but she can't seem to handle suppressing someone who is so similar to who she was until VERY recently.

Now, of course, I was annoyed that Korra couldn't have just restrained Kuvira (hell if she broke her arms it would have been like taking away her bending). We'll see more similarities with Korra and Kuvira until of course we're shown that Kuvira's main aim is self-fulfilling (and heinous; by forcing people into submission) while the avatar's has been about balance.

While I could seriously work Aang showing up in that scene and it making sense, that is not the point. Her going back to the avatar state nightmare stuff when they spend 3-4 episodes with awesome Toph "fixing" that shit is just dragging the PTSD out for the rest of the season.

I didn't expect a full recovery after visiting Toph either, mentally or physically, but it did seem to make pretty damn clear that the most traumatic shit (the avatar state nightmare crap) was over, since she could fully access the avatar state again at will. Previous avatars fucking with her mind (I am sure you could even have this make sense while she is in the avatar state) would have made more sense to me than her going back to the nightmares. Yet here we are again in episode 6.

And 30 episodes of being fucked with it or not, I still like to think the 3 year time skip for this season did more than just get Korra walking and somewhat fighting again, but every episode until now it becomes clear that is the only thing that really happened in those 3 years :/

I also don't understand why Korra would see herself in Kuvira. Even if she did, why have the avatar state face slapped on her and not just normal Korra face?

The most traumatic shit is over--but obviously, there is an issue left to resolve.

And why would past Avatars be a factor here? Hadn't it already been established she lost that connection?

It isn't a factor (and yes I know that has been established), but I also wouldn't rule it out that it will become a factor in the next 7 episodes.

It would literally make the last half of season 3 and all her character development this season moot.

What development? She hasn't learned anything. The only difference between Korra now and the start of season 3 is she's lost her self-confidence.

Finally got around to watching the episode. Stream finally cooperated tonight.

Just wanted throw my "I told you so" in about that weak ass explanation of what was wrong with Korra and how she is healed during that tree scene with Toph.

It didnt make sense because it wasnt root of the problem, pun intended. They just said some garbage about Korra's past and Korra says, "huh" and gets healed, w/e.
