I dunno if I'd say serious shit between Sokka and Aang (and Toph for that matter) but the whole gang was involved in that Yakon thing. Wondering if Aang and Katara were at the Air Nation temples still (assuming that's where they grew up) or if they'd been in Republic City by then. Could imagine some major arguments if Aang didn't want to kill the guy.. maybe Sokka was pissed about that and not 'protecting his sister'.. I'm guessing everyone had an important role after all. Sokka was probably the Water Nation rep. I do want to know what went down with the Yakon thing. I hope it didn't actually split up there group for good and was just a road block.

Red herring I'm sure. People already noted it was the same guy, lol. Wouldn't really make sense to have it as a reporter. Would be too 'what a twist'

and lol, I"m sure there will be a mecha somewhere. We had a big drill in the first series after all.

Also, flashback was awesome despite it being only 5 seconds. Sokka looked ok I thought, and Toph looked exactly how I would imagine. But if it weren't for aang being the only Airbender, I never would have recognized him lol.

God I was overcome with the feeling of "stop fucking up, Korra" during this episode. It's interesting to watch but I'm getting to the point of wanting Tenzen to just lose it and say "look, bitch, this is how shit's going down from now on" lol.

I really wasn't sure about Tarlok and if he was secretly working with Equalists or is actually a huge glory whore. I think Tenzen's conversation regarding "wanting more power" and "comparing yourself to Avatar Aang" are big clues, I just can't decide which direction they're going in.

Tarlok just seems like your average sneaky politician you will use and fuck over whomever he needs to advance his career. I don't see him striking a deal with the equalists, since he's a waterbender, but you never know with his type.

I felt the same about Korra, I kept growling "bitch you're being set up can't you see?!" every third minute. But it's important to keep in mind that Korra is this sheltered, small-town girl getting her first taste of the big city, or the larger world in general. She doesn't really know people's duplicity, she's bright-eyed and idealistic, and she's very blunt. Tarlok took advantage of that ignorance, idealism, and direct nature easily.

See, since the start, she's only ever solved issues with brute force and direct action, as is her nature. That'll slow her mastery of the spiritual and make her look monstrous in an already scared non-bending community. It's been apparent that she needs to learn patience, scrutiny, and circumspection if she's going to become a proper avatar. Hopefully, this episode humbled Korra enough to wake her up a bit, and give her the focus to get smart about things.

Striking a deal with the equalists is exactly what I see him doing. I could see him striking a deal with Amon so as to spare himself and remove his all-bender opposition on the council, or willing to give up his bending if he thought it would get him prestige and power.

Yeah. I think part of that is because we didn't see him looking happy.. or any semblance of a smile, but super serious (like some of the end of S3) so I'm sure if we meet him in the Spirit World through Korra, or see some better flashbacks with the Gaang.. we'll see him looking more like the Aang we loved in the first series.

Honestly, I blame Korra's lack of tact on just her personality and how sheltered of a life she had. Granted Aang was sheltered growing up as a monk.. he also got out early as a kid when he got out of the iceberg and had to learn the hard way with how to deal with things. Korra's been sort of coddled a bit and at least has someone who's mature to look out for her (Tenzin).. even if she chooses to not really pay attention to it, Lol.

Honestly.. I could see Tarlok working for the Equalists and just using this whole 'task force' thing to make himself look better and throw him off the trail, or he could just be a sneaky fucker who wants to get himself higher on the political food chain. Amon's your typical bad guy who's full of himself, Tarlok's your typical smarmy bastard you want to punch. We'll see how this all goes.

I don't know about Tarlok but I don't think "typical" will apply to Amon. I saw some of the speculation about the mask and why he wears it and the potential for a reveal and I think that's totally possible, but imagine it would be a character within this story and not from Aang's.

I understand the reasons for Korra's behavior, it just drives me nuts because of how consistent it is. The entire scene with the reporters where she first got sucked in, I just kept hoping Tenzen would jump to her rescue and stop her. It's only the fourth episode so I could see this being the necessary building blocks for that change, with both Korra realizing she can't punch her way through problems and Tenzen becoming more commanding or forceful. The ending seemed to convey that exactly, at least in Korra's case.

There's also just the slightest amount of cringing going on between Mako's deal with Sato and there being like this corporate-evil theme jumping in somewhere lol.

Well a couple things. First.. what makes people think Amon can't just be..Amon, and not some super duper important character hidden behind a mask. It's amazing that everyone seems to think it just HAS to involve a twist with who Amon actually is. Granted it still could be, but I think it could still be just..some dude with a beef and is just Amon.

As for Asami and the being evil thing, a lot of people are throwing that out there.. mostly because they're more into the Mako/Korra thing, and I could see it happen just based on her introduction. She did glom onto Mako pretty fast and get him in with her Dad and the sponsorship a bit quick too. It just..came together a bit too fast for it to be anything but a "Haha, fooled you, I'm a Chi Blocker and only got close to you so I could get to the Avatar."

Or..she could be a legitimately sweet character who likes Mako and is just there for the love triangle. Who knows!

Maybe because she is based off Lust from FMA people have an automatic mistrust of her.

Couldn't care less about shipping etc. I honestly hope it gets toned down so we have more time for actual story, but knowing how many fangirls there are, I know it won't. D:

Well I don't think it'll ruin the show. It's an easy out to produce some drama, at least for some. Plus if she turns out to be 'evil' and turn on Mako, granted all of us would have seen it coming.. but then it'd make for some good drama. I actually hope she's just a girl who likes the dude and gets initiated into Korra's group Haha.

I am going to rage at you so hard. HARD.

I never thought of myself as a "shipper" but apparently I am cause I am totally for Mako/Korra and against Asami. Bah!

    Spoiler: show

SHE KISSES MAKO AT SOME POINT(Korra). Cannot wait for that episode.

    This weekend's episode:
The Pro-Bending championships are about to start. However, differences between the Fire Ferrets threaten to end their championship bid.
Korra and her teammates struggle to work together after romantic rivalries shake their foundation.

I know it's meant for an 'older audience' and they're teenagers with raging hormones but holy shit the focus on the romance stuff is annoying. I don't feel like it's written well and I didn't sign up for this to watch some shit-ass rerun of a teen soap like Dawson's Creek or whatever. It's four fucking episodes in, there have not been enough episodes to stir up serious chemistry! Ugh.

Korra's confrontational nature may keep her from mastering her elements for a long time.
To be fair, Aang pretty much learned Earthbending the same way Korra took her first steps into learning Airbending. Not by watching and assimilating, but by being put into a situation where he was forced to make use of the basics behind the specific bending style.

I notice a lot of people keep mentioning this and it kind of bugs me, but Aang was never really all that "sheltered" as a kid, he traveled the world long before he ever got into that iceberg. He visited all four Air-temples, at each end of the world and visited many major cities in all four nations.

As for the Asami and her father issue, I honestly do hope they're both genuinely "good" characters. They did the whole "technology is evil" bit in the last show with the Fire Nation's use of war machines so I hope this one manages to stay above that plot point by keeping Sato and his business empire legit. I'm sure there's some secret behind his fortune with the mysterious benefactor they mentioned, but that could just as easily be Sokka or Zuko or some other big name good guy as it could be a villain hiding from the shadows.

I noticed that too, this show seems to have a lot more emphasis on, for a lack of a better term...sex appeal. The romance stuff in the original was pretty much just teased at or used for laughs for much of the show, and generally was just childish innocence and all. But with older characters they're definitely using it as a major plot point. It makes sense seeing as how the fans of the original show are probably at the right age to really appreciate this kind of drama, I just personally hope it doesn't get to be too big of an issue for this show.

    Korra finally reaches Amon
    Korra: "It's over Amon"
Amon (with his back turned): "On the contrary..."
Amon (turning with something concealed): "It's only the beginning"
    Amon pulls a Spike "Bang"
Korra tries to bend ice but the bullet goes through and she falls to the floor
Amon: "Equality, Avatar....Welcome to the new world"
