So no ep next week? Or ep next week? The preview kind of confused me.

Ah ok. From the sound of the preview it seemed like there was no episode this week and then a double the week after. Thanks for the clarification. This better not be the end of LOK...

There was some flash game of some sort a while back on Nick's site that had some cutscenes that were said to be fully canon with the show that explained this. Avatar Kuruk and his wife(Ummi) were to be married at the Spirit Oasis in the north pole, which has easy access to the spirit world. On their wedding night however, Koh pulled Ummi through the pond into the Spirit world where he then stole her face.

No. Nothing at all. Even the effects are garbage. Save yourself the headache and 90 minutes and avoid that turd.

The sad part is that the kid they got to play Aang was a fan of the show, a talented martial artists (for his age anyway) and when off camera was said to act a lot like the character he was supposed to be playing. While the casting could have been MUCH better, I think the vast majority of blame for why that movie was such absolute trash is solely because of M. Night being a complete and utter hack.

What fucked with my head was that I remember reading that M. Night was a fan of the show and even watched it with his kids. Not sure if that was just a lie to give us false hope or what, but I kept thinking the movie couldn't possibly be bad if he was a real fan. Boy, was I wrong.

He was forced to play Aang too seriously from what I saw in the previews. I still refuse to watch the POS movie. If it's not directed or at least written by the guys that wrote the original or Korra it can most likely go to hell.

If I was emperor of Earth, I would have had M. Knight executed for that film.

Having just watched it within the last 2 weeks, I'd say you can skip it entirely.

The casting is horrible for the characters and they really dropped the ball on the pacing of the battles.
None of the other Avatar finales were literal double episodes within one hour long episode, but just.. separate. So we'll just have Ep. 10 this weekend, then 11 and 12 the next weekend for the finale. Which sucks. It's gone so fast!

I think they could have done better in regionalizing the various areas of the world.

It may sound stereotypical, but I always saw the Avatar world as such:

    Water Tribes - Inuit
    Earth Kingdom - Chinese
    Fire Kingdom - Japanese
    Air Temples - Indian (?)

They just seemed to jump all over the place and weren't consistent at all. Iroh is Zuuko's uncle, but he looked Eastern European/American, while Zuuko himself looked Indian. It just didn't fit.

There was so much potential to just have an action packed film with shit flying all over the place, but instead they slowed down all of the scenes with bending in it to make the battles seems very slow paced.

Anyways, enough talk of the crappy movie! Back to Korra! I'll need to download the latest episode tonight when I get home.

Really hope they go around the world next season. City only has that DA2 creeping feeling on me.

I cringed at that part, honestly. I really feel like the pacing of the entire series is just too fast. I'm guessing the authors wanted to have the season be as long as the previous series', but Nickelodeon was too scared (after the film fiasco) to give them that much money.

I didn't really understand why they wanted to do a retelling of the series in live action. Yeah, I know money etc, but with a world as rich as Avatar they could have done anything.

    This fucking this.

And this fucking this @Qeomash's post.

I hope Nick sees that we still immensely love Avatar and give us much, much more of it after this season.

Hopefully a continuation of another 12 episodes of season 1, and then a full 22 or 24 episodes for season 2.

Or, you know, just full 22-24 episodes for season 2

The movie was really that mediocre kind of bad. It's not even that kind of bad you can mock and find funny. They oversimplified everything, took out all characterizing and comedy, and motivation was driven by narration or bad dialogue. That's one the first things you learn about movies is that they are a visual medium, show don't tell. The other really big mistakes were travel via scene transitions and taking away firebenders ability to produce fire. How the fuck could the firebenders suppress the earth, air, and water nations if they were so weak? Anyone who hadn't seen the show wouldn't know wtf was going on.

As I said before the travel in the movie just made no sense it was as if they were teleported around. As you say it totally threw off pacing. I just can't believe how bad everything was in that movie. I felt offended that someone who claimed to have been a fan of the series couldn't see that his movie had nothing from the series except the basic premise and key plot points.

As a side note though the airbender culture was obviously copying Tibetan Buddhist monks. Even their robes are very similar to tradition monk garb. Guru Pathik was obviously Indian which was an odd addition really because he was so out of place. It worked only because Indian and Asian cultures are unfamiliar to North American audiences.

On Korra I'd say if you haven't already go support Avatar by buying the DVDs. I bet DVD sales is the only reason Korra even got a green light after the shit show that was The Last Airbender. The way I figure even if I never watch it again it's something I'd give to my kids to watch and I've lent it to my nieces and nephews and they really enjoyed it. Better than a lot of the mindless crap that most kids shows are (better than a lot of adult shows for that matter.)

Not to sound silly, but are you saying Avatar: The Last Airbender series is "the shit", or are you saying it's bad? Just a bit confused there, haha.
