Well, to be honest, I think it's somewhat likely that Korra will eventually learn to unblock their bending. So we may yet see Lin with her powers! I'm guessing he just puts a mental "wall" or something around their bending powers, and said wall can somehow be removed again - thus not actually removing their powers, just blocking it.

Or, at least I hope so

Lin isn't allowed to lose her powers completely, she's too awesome. Toph was my favorite in the original Avatar, and her daughter is more than living up to her name.

I still kind of think that Amon isn't energy bending. Although I do think that Aang's vision for Korra was to reveal Tarlock's identity I also think he could have been trying to show Korra how he took away bending and how its different from what Amon is doing. The animator's really go out of their way to show you the neck pinch before the forehead poke almost every time Amon takes away bending. I could be wrong though lol... Hopefully the finale next week will reveal what/who Amon is and what he is doing.

I've been thinking the same thing. There's more going on with Amon's technique than the energy bending the avatar does.

Yeah, there's a post out there where it shows the Guru showing Aang the chakra in the forehead and how it's one of illusion.. so it's possible Amon's just been chi-blocking people and giving them the illusion of them losing their bending completely. I still don't buy them having him removing bending forever from people. The animators really have a way of pointing out these small things to the viewers.
